We were visiting from Melbourne and our first time dining at The Point Revolving Restaurant. It did not let us down, from the amazing view with the revolving floors, the amazing food and exceptional customer service. My wife and I dined in for our anniversary and were greeted and welcomed by the FOH Olive and brought to our table with a stunning view. The food was exceptional, cooked in front of us by the lovely Catherine, not only did she cook our medallion eye fillet to perfection she welcomed us and made us feel so comfortable. Her warm, welcoming, inviting and bubbly personality made our dinner that little magical as it was our last night in Hobart. Entrees and desserts were also delicious. Words can’t describe and express how wonderful our experience was and we’ll definitely be coming back in the future.

My wife and I had a romantic dinner at The Point Revolving Restaurant at the end of August 2025.

This is the ultimate 70s authentic fine dining experience. It is not a recreation of a 70s restaurant it is a living relic from that time.

The Point is a revolving restaurant at the top of iconic Wrest Point casino tower. Design by famous architect Roy Grounds, it is still the tallest building in Tasmania and affords incredible views of Greater Hobart and the River Derwent, which is at this point of its course is a large estuary.

The dining experience has all the classic French style flambéed dishes such as prawns, Steak Diane and crepes suzette. The menu itself is on the classic side and not very adventurous but all the food was well prepared.

The service was attentive and generally prompt, generally matching the image of the restaurant.

For me the highlight was been able to have a glass of Penfolds Grange, which was an affordable luxury and a real treat.

Overall, and considering the contained price for the level of quality, it was a good experience if you want to enjoy the views and the authentic 70s charm of the place.

The revolving restaurant point was a brilliant experience, we ordered the pork belly and kilpatrick oysters for entree. For mains we had the short rib and the $80 eye fillet steak (which is cooked infront of you). The mains are pricey starting from $60 upwards but your paying for the spot and the experience. Definitely worth it

Everything was just amazing . Can’t fault anything really. Food was amazing, rich in flavor, and delicious. Very good quality. We had the 3 course set menu. Me and my husband are good eaters, so that, we were a bit worried that the food wouldn’t be enough for us because the pictures of the dishes looked small. BUT NO! It was more than enough. We were so full after our 3 courses.

The staff were very friendly, and the sevice was excellent. We had two complementary dishes (a starter and a mini dessert) and it was a nice surprise.

Overall, a very pleasant experience and worth the money.

What a wonderful experience we had at The Point last night. Having not been to this iconic restaurant for some years we were absolutely delighted with the exceptional service and beautifully presented dishes.

We were so grateful for the care and attention offered by Justin, who was able to reassure my wife who is a coeliac, that almost every dish could be prepared by the excellent chef and kitchen staff to accommodate her gluten intolerance!

The wine menu was well priced and extensive with some excellent Australian wines available.

Justin was always there to look after us during the two and a half hours that we stayed to enjoy the beautiful views, and the ambiance offered in this lovely restaurant.

Justin made excellent suggestions on what might suit our tastes. We chose three excellent offerings from the set menu, which were priced well at $105. I had the lobster souffle, whilst Elizabeth had the heirloom tomato salad with mozzarella cheese as an entree.

The short rib and lamb mains were outstanding with the excellent peach dessert so beautifully presented completing one of the nicest meals we have had for some time.

Having such excellent staff as Justin and his colleagues looking after us during our meal and the highly gifted and professional team in the kitchen will encourage us to return to this wonderful restaurant again soon.

A perfect night in a perfect setting with views of the Derwent River, Mount Wellington, and the surrounding suburbs of Hobart to entertain us during our meal.

This is one of my favourite restaurants in the world, I came here solo, so welcoming, accomodating, friendly, the food 11/10. They served me a complimentary treats from the chef, it’s nice to feel special. No other restaurant in Hobart has a view like this. I was pretty full from dinner but had to order dessert because the gnocchi was so good, I didn’t want to miss out. The sauces with the meals I had really made it, And everything was also Cooked to perfection.
I just wanna say thank you so much to all the staff for being so happy and nice. Hobart is a special place as it is, but Having this restaurant here Is something I’ll look forward to every time I come to Hobart ❤️ An extremely high recommendation from me.

Worth while attending for the view alone. Need to book during sunset for the ultimate experience. Set 3 course menu was good value, sadly not available for vegetarians, and those options are rather slim. Would recommend the Tassie floral for a cocktail choice. Table service was pleasant and entertaining with open stove flame cooking. Decor is in need of an update in keeping relevant, overall a recommended experience. Food is delicious with good flavour, complimentary chocolate was a nice touch.
