This is the best sushi/omakase in the Bay Area. I live in LA (and have tried most every sushi restaurant in the Bay and LA) but whenever I fly into Oakland, I always make reservations here. Chikara is a master. You will not be disappointed. The sake pairing is excellent!

Every thing was so delicious. I love how creative the chef was to put together beautiful dishes with fresh ingredients. I love all the different flavors combinations, read the description on the menu. Not overpowering but go so well with all the ingredients. I love miso cream sauce with the black cod. I love the dessert at the end. Just perfect way to finish off the meal, not too sweet.

What a complete gem! I took my son here for his 17th birthday, and we both were baffled that it didn’t have Michelin stars yet! It has been recognized by Michelin Guide which is absolutely deserved. The female sushi chef was so artistic and graceful in her presentation! She is a master at the sushi bar! We felt we were looking in a window of her heart and soul and allowed to experience her passion for the art of sushi and fine dining. The setting was so peaceful. Each course was thoughtfully prepared to combine just the right flavors and to create a work of art on the plate. The precious waitress was so professional and prompt! We didn’t feel rushed, nor did we feel the timing drag. She was careful in taking care of each person dining to make it the best experience. Everything about this place is so well choreographed that our evening moved along seamlessly and left us eager to come back!!
I appreciated the mix of both raw fish sushi, and cooked fish, along with salads and soups; all that brought traditional Japanese fare right to our plates with color and creativity in the presentations. The dessert was the final wow factor. Its purpose might have been simply to seal the flavors of the meal with a lightly sweet and healthy finish, but it was phenomenal. Fresh fruit and a beautiful pomegranate butterfly, with a healthy fermented rice yogurt that is full of nutrients. There is care here from beginning to end both in service and fare. I’m expecting to see a Michelin star!

Just had dinner at Delage. It was such a delicious meal with wonderful service and very knowledgeable chefs preparing the sushi right in front of us. All of the flavor combinations were creative and well-balanced, and the food was presented very well with the artistic bowls and plates. Would definitely recommend this place for a fancy night out!

This place is a must go.

One thing I look for in places like this is simple but unique flavors. The chefs here absolutely knocked it out of the park with every dish. The flavor combinations were incredible, the textures were spot on, and the plating was beautiful. The staff was really kind and helpful and the overall atmosphere was really laid back.

Can’t wait to come back.

8 course omakase experience – they get their fish fresh daily and incorporate seasonal ingredients into the menu. The flavors were simple yet complex and each course had it’s own surprising element. Each dish is prepared was thoughtful in complimenting flavor and texture! The nigiri was exceptional – (if eaten in the correct order) the buildup of complexity and umami was a delight to experience. They were also accommodating for our dietary restrictions. Highly recommend this place!

I was very pleasantly surprised by how beautiful each dish was. And of course tasted very delicious!!
There is only one main chef and one server but it is a tiny restaurant with only a handful of seats.
There are six seats at the bar and a table that could seat four. So make sure to make a reservation!

There is a different set course menu everyday. I am attaching a photo of the menu but it had a pleasant appetizer, salad, 2 pc sushi, 4 pc nigiri, palate cleanser (ours was a super yummy plum/yuzu drink), fish katsu, chirashi, 4 pc nigiri again, soup, and dessert!

It was very worth the price ($125 per person plus tax plus tip came out to be $326 for two of us).
It was yummy but SO PRETTY!!! Each dish was such an art

Would definitely go back many many times.
(FYI – there is only limited street parking)

Atypical. Tiny restaurant (10 seats, 6 at the counter, one table for 4) with a unique 7-course menu changing each week. Food is very delicate, essentially around fish (only one small piece with meat during the whole meal). I was maybe expecting something more creative, more different across the courses, but was still very enjoyable. Service was very efficient, as all guests were mostly served at the same time.

Love the Omakase here and come back any time budget allows. The chef and staff are engaging if you want to chat, or happy to leave you alone and let you enjoy your meal.

My fiancé never understood why we would spend more money on omakase than at a regular sushi restaurant. Took him to Delage for our anniversary and now he’s a believer!

We’ll definitely be coming back. Reservations only, no walk-in.
