Such a cute little space with a great ethical commitment and excellent food! I brought my partner here to grab a quick lunch to go. We each got a banh mi (I got the lemongrass chicken, no mayo, and they got the pork) and a sparkling limeade. The person who took our order was super friendly and the food came out fast. We were both impressed by just how big the sandwiches were and how much protein was on them! And the limeade was incredible – just slightly sparkling with a hint of saltiness.

Lady working at the window was rude and rushed us from the moment we arrived though there was nobody else there to order. I got the tofu banh mi and my partner got the chicken banh mi. They were both very bland and dry, we have definitely had better elsewhere and for much cheaper. The limeade was good but kinda steep in price.
The only thing I would come back for is the salt and pepper fried oyster mushrooms. Could use a sauce because quite frankly everything here was dry but the flavor on the mushrooms was really good and made the visit worth it.
There’s only outdoor seating on the side and it’s pretty hard to find parking on the street.

I was in the area for business and I wanted a quick, light lunch. And woah! I had a really nice egg banh mi. That fresh crusty bread, the perfect pate spread and fresh veggies, topped with fried eggs with runny yolk. Absolute perfection, esp with the hot pepper salsa on the side. They have a small but cute patio on the side and service was quick and efficient. If I lived there I’d go daily. Highly recommend.

When I used to live in this neighborhood, I got sandwiches and noodle bowls from here all of the time. The food always tasted fresh and high quality, and the staff were always so warm and kind!
I’ve moved since then but this place has still remained a favorite meetup spot for me and my friends. I love supporting them, and they’ve also saved me a couple of times with their pay-what-you-can community bowl offerings. Their generosity and community values are so felt and really inspire the kind of care I hope to see more of. Thank you Be U!!

Love love love this place. The good they do for the community is beyond awesome. The food, so good! The staff, amazing. Great little patio to sit and chat and eat and drink. All if the bahn mi are great. But I’m partial to the vegetarian one with fried egg. The protein boxes, I always tell myself, just eat half and save some for later…. when I have 3 bites left, I just give up and finish it. Summer rolls are really good, very large and some options for fillings. Oh, and the coffee… it’s like dessert. A very caffinated dessert…

It’s actually wild how good every single thing I’ve tried on the menu here is. The salt and pepper mushrooms are my favorite but I’ve had almost every dish that’s possible to be made vegan and loved every single one. I also really love everything that they do for the community including free meals for victims of the LA fires. Cant recommend highly enough ❤️

I’m a big fan of Banh Mi sandwiches and yesterday was the day when I craved for one. We ended up ordering two Banh Mi’s with Pork at Bé Ù. And although they understand the flavor complexity of ingredients and importance of a fresh and crispy baguette, the pork was indeed on a dry side, which is sad.
So, if I may to make a suggestion on how to make your pork Banh Mi a perfect well-rounded full of flavor gastronomy masterpiece, I would recommend to use a fatty and succulent pork belly as a protein. You can never go wrong with pork belly for such dish as Banh Mi. Just make sure to not overcook it. And if you decide to go this route, please let me know, I’d be happy to come back and taste it.

You cannot go wrong here. Everything on the menu slaps to a superb degree. My favs are the popcorm chicken, the limeade spritzer, and the tofu banh mi (with a side of peanut sauce). Chef Uyen is a very dope human who has built a beautiful business model around delicious Vietnamese home cooking and community mutual aid. We freakin love Be U!

Amazing little spot. Staff is welcoming upon arrival. Menu is easy to read. We got most of the classics and some new ones like the Bahn mi and Rau Ma ( blended leaf drink ). My favorite was everything with the Carmelized pork & egg on the bottom. There’s no dine in, it’s all take out. I would definitely come back. Hands down.
