We visited Black Ember Smokehouse for the first time today. We were kindly greeted by two employees when we walked in. The menu is posted on the wall behind the counter as you order that way and they bring it to you afterwards. We ordered the pulled pork and the brisket. It comes with a very tasty corn bread muffin and coleslaw. The pulled pork and brisket were both very tasty, the corn bread muffins are warm wrapped in foil and served with butter packets on the side. The cole slaw was not too much to our liking, but that’s just a personal taste thing. They have three different sauces at the tables. It is very clean and organized with lots of table space and chairs. The prices are quite reasonable and portions also seemed fair to the price. There is a pop dispenser machine to get your own pop refills and food “to go” containers available if you need them. After we finished our meals the gentleman working the counter came over to ask how our meals were and we chatted for a couple minutes. He was very kind and personable. Kudos to him. Very nice employee. I appreciate his kindness, which definitely helps in the restaurant business. I hope this business can continue to do well. The only reason we discovered this place is because we drove down that small strip mall side street near Hobby Lobby and their sign caught my eye. I would suggest the owner do some sort of advertising, possibly on the radio so more people learn about it. Radio reaches so very many, yet I understand that it is also another expense, but it may be worth it for awhile to get the word further out. Thank you for a tasty lunch and we will return! I’m not even done eating the food and I’m giving this place the easiest 5 stars of my life. Food is SO flavorful, staff is very friendly and nice, and it smells amazing inside. Whoever says this place isn’t good must not like smoked food at all. Was it a little pricey? Yeah, but the food for sure makes up for it. Will definitely be a mandatory stop whenever I come through escanaba.

Tried for the first time. Blacksmith panini was awesome with brisket, bacon jelly and guoda cheese. Chips were good, got a side of Piggy baked beans that were delicious. Check out the menu online, can’t wait to try something else!

This was absolutely perfect! It exceeded my expectations. However, they were out of pulled pork, but I compromised. I got a single serving of chicken that came with coleslaw and cornbread. I added a side of mac & cheese, worth it! The total was just below $12! It was just the right amount of food, delicious, and fast! They have three different types of barbecue sauces on the tables; Cran chipotle barbecue, KC barbecue and gold barbecue.

Tried this place for the first time last week. It’s nice inside if you wanted to enjoy your meal there. I tried the pulled pork and brisket. Both were very good! I’d definitely recommend trying this place out.

Great BBQ, Diverse Menu, So many things I can’t wait to try. The only complaint is that if you’re gonna play country music keep it to stuff made prior to 2010ish lol, keep up the great work!!! Be back soon!
