Reviews
The hors d’oeuvres were flowing at the start of the event, and the wait staff made sure everyone was offered something or already had a bite in hand. The mains were served family-style in generous portions (the shrimp cavatelli was the clear crowd favorite) and were overall very well received.
Andrew, the manager, coordinated everything seamlessly on the day of, and I want to give a special shoutout to Nicole Lynch, the events and marketing manager, who guided me through the entire process—from the very first inquiry all the way to the event itself. She was incredibly prompt, helpful, and organized.
I’ve always thought Sirenetta had some of the best food in Hoboken, and now I can confidently say it’s also a wonderful place to host a party. Highly recommend!
As said, my girlfriend and I went to this for our Valentine’s day and the overall experience was awful but I will be fair and list the positives and negatives.
Positives:
• We arrived a few minutes early (like 3 minutes early) to our reservation and were seated pretty immediately.
• The drinks we ordered had unique flavors and were really fun. (the Winter’s Bloom and the Mariner’s Fog).
• Our courses and responses from the waiters and staff was not too long and they were pretty friendly.
The Negatives:
• The first note is a short one and I don’t have any issue with the staff on this matter, they did try to help but still I felt I needed to address this. My girlfriend and I were seated right near the door and the cold air would blow in whenever people entered or left. I was worried for my girlfriend as she was just getting over a sickness and I didn’t want her to get sick again so I asked the staff if it was possible to relocate us to a new location, seeing as there were a few seats around us for couples available. The staff warned me that they were very booked and may not be able to make a switch to their floor plan. Whilst I understand they were busy and guests were still coming in, I find this ridiculous that a switch couldn’t be completed when I continued to see available seating for 2 nearby during our dinner and this just felt like something that could have been achieved with a note to switch guests upon their arrival.
• All of the food we ordered was in the nicest way possible, lackluster and in the most honest way possible, downright insulting. As part of their Valentine’s day special, Sirenetta’s provided menu included a three course meal of appetizer, entree, and dessert which you select for $75 per person; I was aware of this at the time and had no issue with this practice but I wish the regular menu would have been available as well. But onto the real matter, the appetizers (a fritto misto I think and the pork belly) were the best part of the experience and horribly lackluster. The fritto misto offered a nice variety of fried calamari items with a spicy mayo but the portions were kinda small. The pork belly had a similar issue, there was not a lot provided but it also was really tough to chew. Both of these appetizers felt like they were just reheated frozen meals rather than something fresh. I could accept the smaller portion sizes for the appetizers as they were to wet the appetite. Next the entrees, my girlfriend and I ordered their lobster pasta and Bolognese dishes and this is where the meal experience starts taking a real nosedive. The lobster was chewy, rubbery, and lacked flavor whilst the pasta it came with carried too much of the lobster’s fishy smell and honestly ruined our appetite. The Bolognese dish seemed a lot smaller in portion size compared to the lobster dish but further more it lacked flavor except for salt. It was so bad that I constantly had to reach for my water and brought hamburger helper to my mind. Both of these dishes once again felt like they were frozen or reheated. Finally, the dessert was the most insulting part of this meal. My girlfriend and I ordered from the dessert menu and each picked one option as we expected a full dessert for each of us and we were left shocked when a single platter was placed before us with a smattering of the dessert options. Tiny chocolate chip and sprinkle sugar cookies, tiny cannolis, tiny pistachio tarts, and tiny creme pies. My girlfriend and I were lost for words, it felt like we were just given snacks from a preloaded tray, not something hand crafted for the experience. We tried them to see if these samplers were better than they looked and they failed. I never felt so insulted.
The cocktails tasted good and looked great but they had no real kick to them. My girlfriend and I didn’t feel any buzz at all. We were honestly unsure if they gave us mocktails.
The cocktails are outstanding — creative, beautifully balanced, and featuring some really interesting flavor combinations you don’t find just anywhere. The clear ice alone deserves a mention — it’s like a piece of art in every glass, elevating the whole experience.
The raw seafood selection is equally impressive — fresh, clean, and thoughtfully paired with the drinks. Every detail here feels intentional and elevated. Highly recommend for a night out that’s both relaxed and refined!
The one thing that was outstanding was the peach tart which was amazing.
