Social Profile:

Bethel’s very own Main Street cafe and bakery, established December 2022. Handmade and naturally leavened breads, pastries, bagels with a full espresso bar and 28 cozy seats inside where you can see our open kitchen and watch the baking magic happen. Gemini Cafe is a freshly baked business made possible by hundreds of supporters and volunteers and two very dedicated friends who love to bake. Why GEMINI?Because the Greek mythology of the Gemini twins speak well to the nature of our friendship; they were of one mind who fluidly collaborated well around their craft with good communication and cooperation.

I’ve experienced cafes and bakeries all over the world and it’s rare to experience one that offers this degree of quality, variety, and epic flavor.

I came here with a group of seven and we shared numerous pizzas, sandwiches, bagels and pastries, all of which were delicious and unique. The breads, ingredients, local veggies, meats, fruits, and so much more, create great meal combinations that are PACKED with flavor. And the same goes for the pastries. All of this is made possible by a super helpful staff, reasonable prices and plenty of seats. You simply can’t go wrong here as you get a very quick yummy meal. Stop by, you’re welcome!

We travel for bakeries and coffee, seriously, around the world!! From the moment you walk into Gemini, you know you’re in for something special. I’d happily drive hours just to visit again. The breads and pastries here are absolutely outstanding. Their Anadama bread was rich and flavorful, with a perfect crust and texture that kept me coming back for more, and the sourdough bagels were simply too good to pass up; crisp outside, chewy inside, and full of character.

Every bite feels like a celebration: flaky pastries, artisanal naturally leavened bread, and thoughtful flavor combinations that make it a true bakery destination. The coffee pairs beautifully with the baked goods and they even sell locally roasted coffee from a woman-owned roaster in nearby Greenwood, which adds a wonderful Maine-made touch to the experience.

Service is warm and friendly, and the cozy, welcoming atmosphere makes you want to sit down with a latte and savor every last bite. If you ever find yourself in Bethel, this gem of a bakery is absolutely worth the trip, it’s one of those places that leaves you already planning your next visit.

Had breakfast here two mornings in a row on our trip to Maine. Despite a line up and being super busy the staff was so pleasant to deal with. Place was recommended by our Airbnb host and it did not disappoint! Bagels were delicious and the cream cheese was unlike anything I’ve had before, it was soo fresh and creamy without being heavy. Loved the variety of cream cheese. The pastries are a must try, especially the scones and cinnamon swirl. Coffee was good too and their matcha was well made. I live in a city with amazing bakeries yet I am dreaming of this place and looking forward to visiting the area only for this cafe!

Fantastic place. I’ve eaten lunch or gotten take out sandwiches from Gemini five or six times. Every visit has impressed me: The quality of the food and the delicious tastes. Prices so reasonable that it seems like a throwback to an earlier era. Warm and friendly atmosphere. With the attention to detail and to sustainability. Outstanding coffee roasted locally. The bread and pastries are to die for, except too big! Visit the Gem Museum across the street and take a lunch break here or just stop by.

We stopped by Gemini Cafe & Bakery for breakfast our last day in the area and I only wish we had found it sooner! What an incredible place! We went right when they opened and there was already a line out the door, they seem to have everything streamlined nicely so we weren’t waiting terribly long but it was so beyond worth the wait anyway! My husband and I shared several menu items and everything was SO good! The staff were all so sweet and helpful and it seems they attract equally wonderful patrons as it was just such a wholesome experience all around. It was refreshing to see such a sense of community, we pulled up the site while waiting for our food and enjoyed reading their origin story as well! They’re located in a very walkable area but do have a parking lot on site as well as street parking! There was indoor and outdoor seating available. As I mentioned there was a line just after opening but it moved steadily and once we ordered everything was ready impressively quickly. We originally planned to grab drinks for the drive home but once inside decided to dine in! The seating did feel a bit cramped in areas but I wouldn’t say it was uncomfortable. I think they have things perfectly set up for the space they have and it’s probably much less cramped when it’s less busy! I highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area, I know we can’t wait to go back if we ever are!

Everything here is good. The coffee, the cookies, the breakfast sandwiches (i recommend ordering a double egg and cheese). But the bread is THE BEST BREAD. Trust me on this. Go pick up a loaf. You will dream of this bread for however long it takes you to get back to Bethel.

Absolutely perfect pastrami on their house made seeded rye sourdough. The bread was soft with a crispy crust. Real fermented kraut, cornichons, and Dijon. Service was good. Only thing I didn’t love was the chairs, difficult to navigate between tables to sit down.

Cute bakery but they took 17 minutes to get me a toasted bagel with cream cheese and it wasnt even warm by the time i got it, like it had been sitting on the counter for 15 minutes. Also, bagels ARE supposed to be chewy, but oh my god. That bagel was TOO chewy and tough. Also a bagel there is $2.50 but if you get it toasted with cream cheese now its $6?? How did it more than DOUBLE in value, i dont get it.

WOW! The ham and cheese croissant was so flavorful and delicious! Perfect crunchy outside and soft flaky inside. Buttery goodness cut by the sharpness of the ham and cheddar. YUM! The mocha latte was creamy and also sooo yummy! It was very cool to see the bakers actually making the dough and baking the loaves in their giant oven. Plus the customer service was amazing – very kind and super fast. We were in and out in 15 min with full bellies ready to make first chair (it is also super close to Sunday River!) Love this place and will definitely be back!
