Easily one of the best BBQ place in DC, better than mission BBQ though could use some more sauces. Smokey ribs and very tender everything else. Good sides. 5 stars

BBQ is good, smoked options include chicken, pork, beef brisket, and two types of sausage. Cornbread is great. Only three choices of sauce.

This is a pretty average BBQ place. But the food is very good. I had pulled chicken over a salad and the meat was most and flavorful. The staff were nice and the atmosphere was casual. Parking can be a little tricky.

Local BBQ chain, has several locations in Maryland and Northern Virginia. Good BBQ, burgers, and apps served in a kitschy Americana atmosphere (complete with several Velvet Elvises).

The Urban Soul Rolls or Ugly Rib Tips are a delicious start to a meal. Their brisket is devine.

Disappointed. Ordered carryout 2 meat 2 sides. No sauce with food, turkey was not pulled, but cut in squares and didn’t taste like real turkey meat. Pulled chicken was way too small a portion stacked on top of a slice of bread to make it look like a lot. Way, Way to expensive for this meal. I should have stuck with the wings. Really disappointed.

My favorite UBQ is the one on New Hampshire Avenue, but this is a close second. The service was very prompt and we got our food very quickly. The menu is not the same as the one on NH Avenue, but what we were served was very good.

The ribs were good (without any sauce). Carolina and mustard sauces were good. Brisket was good. Beer selection was legit. Corn muffins not so good; served to us cold. Would have tasted better if warmed. Collard greens were too sweet for me. Mac n cheese not great.

Service was decent for us.

I thought portions were too small for what I paid and I didn’t enjoy the side dishes.

Overall very satisfied with this place. Pulled pork was great, with lots of smoke flavor. The brisket, not as much, but decent. Fattier with more moisture would be better. Excellent sauces – the Carolina sauce with the pork was my favorite. Mustard sauce good as well. Mashed potatoes and gravy have tons of flavor. Collards hit taste notes exactly, although were a bit more cooked than I would have preferred. Corn bread was good, but cold.

UPDATE: There is a new manager, and the staff will not only check your order most of the time, the few times they’ve missed something they *actually apologized*, and even offered me something for free when I had to drive all the way back for the missing item! Much better than before, and the food is still great.

The food probably deserves 3-4 stars, but the service is what dragged their rating down.

I’ve eaten at a few Urban BBQ locations and I’ve found their food to be fairly consistently good, especially the brisket, but also the pulled pork, the ribs, the chicken, and the sides. If you get a salad, the Buttermilk Ranch dressing is amazing, very garlicky and perfect for a meaty salad.

However, the last time I ordered takeout from this location I did not get any brisket with my Texas Steakhouse Salad, and I had to drive all the way back to pick it up while my food (and my wife) sat at home waiting. They did apologize, but it was somewhat perfunctory. For having to wait much longer than expected to eat, and to drive there and back again, I was expecting more of an apology, but not only did they not seem overly concerned, they did not even offer a side or a dessert. Not that I needed one, but the offer would have been nice, considering I had to spend twice as much on gas for this meal than I had planned thanks to their mistake, plus our dinner was delayed.

I might even have more sympathy if they were slammed, but we eat very early, and the takeout side was completely empty and the kitchen was very quiet when we picked up our order.

So if you really want to order from there, eat in or check every part of your order thoroughly. I made the mistake of tipping on takeout without checking the order, I won’t make that mistake with them again…if I go back.
