Nice little takeout sandwich shop on Metropolis.
It’s probably a 5 star for the area, and a 3-star if it were in a more upscale location
Sandwiches were both excellent
Peruvian chicken and prime rib.
A little on the small side for the price

We are from Peoria IL and love to find local places to eat when traveling. We stopped in for lunch today and boy was it amazing. We order the chicken salad sandwich, potato salad and the East Cleveland style polish boy. It was absolutely delicious. We had the pleasure of chatting with the owners and boy do they have a passion for feeding people. They were both so sweet and incredibly friendly to everyone that stopped in. They have three bistro tables to sit and enjoy your meals as well as offer to go orders. It was very affordable and incredibly clean. Definitely stop in and give them a try, you won’t be disappointed.

“SMALL, BUT MIGHTY!”
We took a side trip on our vacation to see Superman and stopped here to buy our lunch. We like to try local places while we are away. The food was great! I had the Philly Cheesesteak, and my husband had the Peruvian-Style Grilled Chicken sandwich; both were delicious. We each had a side of macaroni salad which was perfect – creamy, tasty, and not over-spiced.
The owners were a hoot! We enjoyed great conversation & fun while our food was being prepared.
Great people. Great food. If you’re in the neighborhood, definitely give them a try!

Small, local shop with an interesting menu. Honestly, I didn’t have high hopes but it was really good! We shared a cheese steak sandwich and it was more than enough for two as a light lunch. The owner is a really nice guy and seems like he could be head chef in a much larger restaurant. They are only open for lunch but they also serve free meals for the homeless on the days that they are closed to the public. I can’t think of a better way to give back to the community and live a “normal” life in the restaurant business. Definitely a good place to stop for lunch if you are in town!

We stopped here on our way from North Dakota to Nashville. What a great place! It’s very small but Chef Darin and Felicia provided us with fabulous food and great conversation. They generously provide free meals to the homeless every Monday. We will definitely stop back if we travel this way again.

A true hidden gem in the town of Metropolis and an absolutely must for anyone visiting or passing through. Had the philly cheese steak and potato salad, both of which were some of the best I’ve ever had. The owners were incredibly friendly, and chatted with us the entire time we were there. They even gave us some additional fruit punch and fresh fruit for our trip since we were from out of town. 5 stars are not enough for how amazing this place is!

I don’t often leave Google Reviews, but couldn’t pass up the opportunity to leave one for this place!! My boyfriend and I stopped in during a weekend trip we made to the area and were looking for a place to stop at for lunch after some hiking. The 5 star rating is not right enough for this local spot! The food was amazing (I had the Philly cheesesteak and potato salad) and am already counting down until when I can go back and try something else. The owners were so friendly and happily chatted with us while we waited (shortly) for our food. Learning that we had traveled in they from out of town they treated us to some fruit punch and some fresh fruit on the house. I honestly can’t rave about this place enough and hope that everyone takes the opportunity to stop in for a bite!

Stopped in for lunch yesterday afternoon and both customer service and food was amazing! Prices are very affordable and you definitely get bang for your buck! Highly recommend this cafe for all lunch and dinner needs. Not to mention you can have door dashed straight to your front door! Will most definitely stopping back by whenever I’m in Metropolis, IL. again.

During our yearly visit to Metropolis, my family stumbled upon a charming new eatery: Super Cafe and Ms. Lane’s Sandwich Shop. It had just opened its doors and stood out, especially since there aren’t many dining options near the Superman statue. Intrigued, we decided to give it a shot. The owners were incredibly friendly and, despite not having a dedicated kids’ menu, they happily customized meals for our little ones. My kids absolutely loved the grilled chicken and broccoli, rating it an impressive 11 out of 10! We’ve officially found our favorite spot for future trips to Metropolis.

The two owners are the sweetest and provide a welcoming environment when you first walk in. The food is great at an affordable price. The interior is superman themed and provides good air conditioning for your wait. They have short wait times and offer cold refreshing drinks. ♥️
I would recommend the Philly on the regular menu and the shrimp or fish combos on their fish fry Fridays.
