The food? Unreal. Every plate comes out looking like it’s auditioning for a magazine cover, and then the first bite hits you with layers of flavor that prove this kitchen isn’t just cooking, they’re crafting. The tortillas are on point, the protein is perfectly seasoned, and the salsas have that “wake up your taste buds” kick without blowing them off your face.
The drinks deserve their own spotlight. The margaritas are smooth, bright, and dangerously easy to keep ordering. Not sugary, not artificial, just clean, crisp, and exactly what you want with authentic modern Mexican cuisine.
Inside, the atmosphere is vibrant without being loud, cool, modern, and stylish, but with that welcoming energy that makes you want to stay for another round. The staff is on it from the moment you sit down. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely proud of what they serve, which they should be.
Bottom line: Aye Guey is the real deal. This is the place you bring friends to impress, the place you detour for on road trips, and the place you’ll crave again the moment you leave. Smithfield didn’t just get another restaurant, they got a destination.
Do not sleep on this spot. Go. Order. Enjoy. And thank me later…
One of us got the grilled chicken fajitas. The fajitas were very greasy. I couldn’t eat it but for a few bites. I didn’t like the taste of their refried beans and the rice was bland.
The second one was called a El Paisano. It was a t-bone with grilled veggies and you get 2 sides as well as corn or flour tortillas. The steak was good but it wasn’t cook medium rare as asked. Also, with the veggies, they were very wet so if you tried to make a fajitas with it, it will be very drippy and make a mess.
The third person got a taco mix, one arrchera taco, carne asada, and a shrimp taco. They chose corn torillas. Before they could even pick the first taco up, the shell completely fell apart as well as with the other two tacos. It ended up being very messy.
Our server, Ashley, was great! Unfortunately, we will not be back.
Note: we went back a week later, ordered the same dishes: still good but not as good as first time. I’m not sure why the quality is not consistent, maybe different cook, different meat…We’ll be back, just to find out what is what And we hope for the best!
Definitely coming back for sure
