Right outside Western Michigan University—perfect spot for students and parents alike. The place has a very traditional Turkish vibe, and you can tell right away from the decor and the signature orange seating. It’s not flashy or modern like some American spots, but more old-school Turkish style.

Personally, I’m good with that—it adds to the authenticity—but if you’re after trendy interiors, just know this is more classic and a little on the plain side.

The walls are decorated nicely, lighting is warm, and the staff are genuinely Turkish, which adds to the whole experience. Everyone here was super friendly.

I tried the Ayran, which is a traditional yogurt drink. Heads-up—it’s not sweet at all. Think along the lines of a salty lassi in Indian cuisine. Definitely an acquired taste, so if you’ve never had anything like it before, maybe skip it unless you’re feeling adventurous.
Also had the Turkish tea which I would definitely recommend.

For food, I went with the Ayasofya Kebab—figured I had to try the namesake dish on my first visit. It’s marinated beef topped with tomato sauce, served over a bed of fries with what tasted like tahini or a mayo-based sauce. Hearty, flavorful, and definitely satisfying.

Place was pretty quiet when I came by on a Sunday evening around 7 PM—just a couple of other diners, which made for a calm, relaxed meal.

For dessert, I had the specialized Kataifi Baklava. definitely ask them to warm it up if you want that gooey, melty texture. This one had something described as Dubai chocolate inside, but I didn’t really get that rich chocolatey feel. Next time I’d probably go for a different baklava or just get real Dubai chocolate if that’s the craving.

Overall: great place, great people, great food. Highly recommend.

The young guy who served me was super nice—his English wasn’t perfect, but he really cared and made sure everything went smoothly.

First time for Turkish- Got an appetizer Kibbah and two entrees Donor w/rice and Ayasofya Kabob and desserts. All dishes were flavorful in their own right. Subtle flavors that were placed throughout. Service was expedient and kind and owner was very friendly.

I had been wanting to come here for awhile now. I finally got a chance to come on a random weekday afternoon. It was dead when I arrived, just me and the staff. They seemed a little weirded out that I wanted to dine in. I took my time trying to figure out what I wanted to order being my first time with Turkish cuisine. Other than the grape leaves it was a struggle to figure out what I wanted. I ended up with the pide with sojouk, which was probably the *safest thing I could’ve ordered. Basically a Turkish flat bread pizza, good but not much of a stretch into the unfamiliar. My grape leaves were good too, one of the better versions I’ve had in awhile. I was somewhat annoyed that the entire staff sat in a booth on their phones and ignored me the majority of the time. It was the bare minimum of interaction and I had to call someone over to bring me a bill and a box. Still bought a Dubai chocolate bar that was more sugar than anything else. I’ll just order Togo next time.

Great food, nice staff. Be prepared to buy dessert, they are very insistent but it’s worth it. We tried some of the salty drinks. Fun experience. Also be prepared to experience a different culture Wonderful people. They do a lot of takeout, don’t let the lack of full tables scare you. You may wait a bit for dine in because of the take out. We’ll be back to try the Turkish coffee for lunch, too late at night to risk it tonight.

Fantastic little place that I wish was here went I went to college. Being Turkish, I am always looking for good Turkish food. This place did not disappoint,.the gözleme (flatbread) was authentic and very light. The crust on the lahmacun was crispy and thin. Su borek was very good and made in-house. Didn’t get to try the manti, but saw it on a neighboring table and it looked very good. Very friendly staff and overall great experience. Will definitely return! Thank you!

First time visiting and will definitely be back! Our server was fantastic, friendly, and every recommendation he gave was spot on delicious. Lots of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options, in addition to traditional meats. The vegan manti were amazing! Enough for two meals. We also loved the spinach & cheese flatbread appetizer. We’re excited to visit again and try more of the menu

Ordered a variety of dishes for a work function where guests included vegetarians and very meat-and-potato kind of eaters. Everyone LOVED it! My favorites were the Iskander Kabob and both the vegetarian and meat manti, but also the grape leaves and eggplant salad are not to be missed.

I’ve been here three times in one week!
This place is THAT GOOD!

Here’s why:

– Almost every dish is delicious, whether sweet or savory! You won’t be disappointed no matter what you order. Everything is expertly made with passion, and all the meat is Halal!

– The owner and staff are incredibly kind and attentive—they truly know how to take care of their customers.

– The prices are reasonable—you can enjoy a filling meal for two for around $40.

– The portion sizes are just right for the price.

– The restaurant has a nice atmosphere, though it could use more color and decorative touches. Since the place is still new, I’m sure it will improve over time.

Overall:

The restaurant doesn’t have a big sign yet, so it might be easy to miss—but don’t! Step inside and enjoy some incredible, flavorful food without hesitation!

I’m thinking this was my first time eating in an actual Turkish restaurant. I loved that the waitress kept my tea cup filled with tradition Turkish tea. The food was delicious! There are some vegan options; just talk it through with the waitress. The eggplant salad, shepherd salad, stuffed cabbage leaves are some safe options. Everything was delicious.

This is a lovely Turkish restaurant that recently opened in Kalamazoo, just off the campus. We enjoy Turkish cuisine and were keen to try it out. We ordered the Iskender Kebab and the Ayasofya kebab. Both were delicious, authentic Turkish. I’d also recommend the lentil soup as a starter. The place was very clean and the staff were also really friendly. And considering we had starters, main meal, and drinks, $47 for two was quite reasonable. Definitely recommend this place.
