During a holiday vacation with my kids in Ellsworth, things took a frightening and heartbreaking turn when I was injured at our motel and ended up in the ER at Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital. I was in pain, overwhelmed, and trying to stay strong for my children, who were scared, exhausted, and hungry with no food options available.

In the middle of that incredibly difficult moment, Brick House Soup showed us a level of kindness and humanity I will never forget. Even though they normally do not deliver to the hospital, they made a beautiful exception just for us. They thoughtfully prepared warm soups and sandwiches for my kids, found a way to help us despite payment challenges, and treated us not as strangers, but as people who needed compassion and care.

Their food was comforting and delicious, but what truly touched my heart was their warmth, empathy, and generosity. Their kindness brought comfort and hope at a moment when everything felt overwhelming. They reminded me that even in the hardest situations, there are people in this world whose goodness can make you cry. In the best, most healing way.

Brick House Soup is so much more than a restaurant. It is a place filled with heart, humanity, and truly good people. I am deeply grateful, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone in Ellsworth.

Cozy little shop with amazing home made soups everyday! The Cajun fried potatoes are delicious! Best dang sriracha chicken melt I’ve ever had. Even tried the featured melt of the day with candied jalapeños! So sweet.

Everything here was amazing. We came in for the lobster bisque but I ended up adding in a lobster grilled cheese. (Seriously though, I wanted to lick the bowl but didn’t want strange looks! Haha!) My husband had a bacon and egg sandwich. The staff was super friendly! The atmosphere is laid back. We loved it!

This is one of the best breakfast places in town.

We did not expect to find a lovely breakfast like this in a little town. We kept going there every morning when we were in town.

The chicken Tikka Masala Soup is a must try. It’s almost like a chili but with proper Tikka Masala taste. Their version can easily compete with the big city offerings. Very lovely to have a warm soup in a cold morning.

The brick house is properly made, with nice pumpernickel bagel, a non-greasy egg, and just a touch of bacon for flavor without it being overwhelming

They guys in there are very friendly and great service

Highly recommend

Lobster on Brick Buoy was so fresh and delicious! We each got a cup of Lobster Bisque which was a very generous portion and was a perfect side to our outstanding lobster toast. Reasonably priced for outstanding food. Friendly, polite and helpful staff.

I saw a post about this new place in town. I met a friend there for a late breakfast yesterday. I loved the atmosphere and cleanliness. I had a Brick & Schmear on Marble Rye w/scallion chive cream cheese, and a side of Downeast Potatoes w/Cajun seasoning. Delicious! The staff was so friendly and answered any questions we had. Will definitely go again!

This place is something special. We had the lobster grilled cheese, tomato bisque, and a soup that was on special – butternut squash and roasted apple. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING slapped. After a bite of the butternut soup, I swear I transcended to a different plane of existence. Mike and the rest of the staff are super friendly and made our experience super enjoyable. We even came back for breakfast in the morning and had a bagel with blueberry honey cream cheese (unreal), and a breakfast sandwich on their sourdough (amazing), and some breakfast potatoes with their house seasoning (perfect).

I am now convinced there’s nothing you can order on this menu that’s not delicious. Pricing is super fair and it was the perfect spot to stop for a casual quick meal. If you have the pleasure of stopping here, be warned: you will be back.

The staff was friendly and the food was fantastic. I had the Hungarian mushroom soup and the house made chips. The soup was a cream based and flavorful and rich, and the chips were fresh and delicious.

Unassuming local joint that offers a Maine twist on some classic soups and melts. Try the soup flights to sample their soup menu – clam and corn chowder was my fave. On the melt’s try the bricklayer’s catch – tasty option with somwe Maine lobster!
