Azul Mexicano Downtown is a hidden gem in Charleston!

Loved the vibrant and welcoming ambiance—perfect mix of modern and festive. The drink selection is excellent with a wide variety of cocktails and tequilas that pair perfectly with the food.

Speaking of food, everything we tried was bursting with flavor. The tacos were juicy, the fajitas sizzling, and the guac? Spot on. Portions are generous and presentation is clean.

Definitely recommend if you’re looking for quality Mexican food with a good vibe and even better drinks. Will be back!

We DoorDash the food and it still arrived hot and fresh! The food was surprising amazing. As a fellow Mexican myself, I had very high expectations and this place exceeded those!! The rice and beans were the torta was everything was fire.

The steak fajita quesadilla was GREAT! Huge portion, absolutely full of flavor. The rice on the side was good, too.

I ordered the sangria which tasted like pure syrup over ice. I asked for a mimosa (on the menu) instead and was told they were out of all flavors. No biggie, but it took a while to get a water after that.

Not sure if it’s always like this, but on a Friday night it definitely had a college bar vibe.

Amazing! We were ready for a break from traditional Charleston fare, and this hit the spot.
Outdoor seating was comfortable and our server was attentive and helpful with suggestions.
Our meals were absolutely delicious. My husband had a seafood chimichanga and I had a chicken burrito. The plate presentation of the chimichanga was very eye-appealling and abundant. The burrito was plated as just that, a burrito, but oh, my goodness it was SO good.
And my mojitos…. also delicious!
We highly recommend this restaurant.

My boyfriend and I have been coming to Azul for at least 3 years, and it has always been great. Although the service isn’t the greatest, the food definitely makes up for it (not authentic in the slightest, but its good for the price!) Always start our meal with the fajita nachos… again, not authentic my any means but delicious!

I highly recommend this if you are in the area. Delicious food with good portions and amazing margaritas. We had the Blue Passion amd the spicy cucumber. Our favorite of those was the cucumber which was well balanced. The nachos are definitely sized to share or for someone with a big appetite.

Food and drinks were amazing. Nacho portion is definitely a shareable size but totally worth it. Hubby got street tacos and I still shared some of my nachos with him.

The food is unpretentious and tasty. Also, the pricing is good.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and can serve easily as a breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks spot.

Minor gripes: the music at lunch time is VERY LOUD! I’d definitely recommend turning it not a notch, but two down.

My daughter also disliked the tables, as if was not possible to draw on them (so one thing to consider would be giving some drawing plank to kids).

Kids pizza is not particularly good.

Their food was good the first few times we came and they always gave us a side of salsa with our burrito.
It seems like if you eat in they give you salsa for free but if you grab to go, you have to pay a few dollars for just a side.
Been coming here for a few years and the quality of the food seems to have decreased too, not sure what’s been going on but it’s very sad. Was one of our favorite Mexican food places but seems they treat to go orders very different than sit in orders which should be treated the same.

New Years Day brunch. Parking nearby at the Visitor’s Center. Good location to hit up before the downtown CF. Good food & drinks & Happy Hour drinks. Quiet afternoon but the food was good & this waiter guy carried 5-6 HOT PLATES on his arm. Very impressive. Service was good considering we were a larger party & no automatic gratuity so that was nice. Think they’ve only been open a couple weeks so go show some love. Definitely a new hotspot to try downtown.
