Reviews
Azul Mexicano Downtown is a hidden gem in Charleston!
Loved the vibrant and welcoming ambiance—perfect mix of modern and festive. The drink selection is excellent with a wide variety of cocktails and tequilas that pair perfectly with the food.
Speaking of food, everything we tried was bursting with flavor. The tacos were juicy, the fajitas sizzling, and the guac? Spot on. Portions are generous and presentation is clean.
Definitely recommend if you’re looking for quality Mexican food with a good vibe and even better drinks. Will be back!
I ordered the sangria which tasted like pure syrup over ice. I asked for a mimosa (on the menu) instead and was told they were out of all flavors. No biggie, but it took a while to get a water after that.
Not sure if it’s always like this, but on a Friday night it definitely had a college bar vibe.
Outdoor seating was comfortable and our server was attentive and helpful with suggestions.
Our meals were absolutely delicious. My husband had a seafood chimichanga and I had a chicken burrito. The plate presentation of the chimichanga was very eye-appealling and abundant. The burrito was plated as just that, a burrito, but oh, my goodness it was SO good.
And my mojitos…. also delicious!
We highly recommend this restaurant.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and can serve easily as a breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks spot.
Minor gripes: the music at lunch time is VERY LOUD! I’d definitely recommend turning it not a notch, but two down.
My daughter also disliked the tables, as if was not possible to draw on them (so one thing to consider would be giving some drawing plank to kids).
Kids pizza is not particularly good.
It seems like if you eat in they give you salsa for free but if you grab to go, you have to pay a few dollars for just a side.
Been coming here for a few years and the quality of the food seems to have decreased too, not sure what’s been going on but it’s very sad. Was one of our favorite Mexican food places but seems they treat to go orders very different than sit in orders which should be treated the same.
