Carne asada and Al pastor tacos were both excellent. Flavorful, traditional preparation that really hit the spot. Ordered chips and salsa and a marg for national margarita day. Filling but light enough for a day hopping around plaza.

Simply the best California Burrito east of the Mississippi. Up there with the best of them in San Diego, LA, SF. All of them. Why can’t more restaurants in Charlotte try like this place clearly does.

This place has the most AMAZING burritos!! They are fully loaded and SO GOOD!! The morita salsa is a must, it’s homemade (as everything they do there) and delicious! The birria consume to die for!!! Plenty to share or the leftovers are good cold/hot! 10 of 10!!!

El Malo has such a fun, festive vibe — the space is cool, colorful, and full of energy. We came for the Mexican food and were not disappointed. The chips were super fresh and crisp, and every salsa we tried was packed with flavor. The tacos were amazing — super flavorful with great texture and fresh ingredients. It’s a great spot for a night out with friends or just to enjoy some seriously tasty food in a lively atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back!

All day breakfast burrito, MASSIVE. I got the Al pastor in it, meat was a little tough, not sure if that is reflective of the quality of meat or it was just on the griddle for a little bit too long, but the flavor was there, heavy on the cinnamon. Salsa Verde was immaculate, pickled red onions were necessary. Very, very impressed and pleased. Open kitchen could see them cooking everything. Scalloped potato chips, fried fresh to order with the breakfast burrito. Super nice staff!!

The salsa is fantastic. The chips are wonderful. I have had every taco they make and many burritos. I always leave of the guac, and they have never made a mistake. My son gets tacos with only beef. No issues. The bartender makes a mean Shirley Temple if you ask my son. The Papas Tacos are so flavorful. The Pastor could use some more pineapple (IMO), but solid. The Campechano is perfect. We moved here from Chicago in 2019, and I am very picky about my Mexican food. This is on point and the only place I recommend to people. I take every out of town guest here.

We did takeout and the meal was incomplete. The cheese quesadilla didn’t come with salsa, guac, or sour cream… it came with nothing! What a joke. $7.70 for a tortilla with some melted cheese. So disappointed that they would send food out that is not a complete order. We will never be back. Birria was fine.

I was thoroughly impressed with the food (birria burrito) that I had from here! The birria was so flavorful and the burrito itself was incredible. We almost went back the next day for round two pretty much the entire kitchen was made up of Hispanic workers (not sure what other people are referencing) so the food was absolutely on point and tasted pretty authentic. I also think it’s reasonably priced. If you’re in the area I highly recommend checking it out! I can’t wait to go back!

Tried this new place in downtown Charlotte for lunch on a weekend. When we first got there, it took a while for someone to take our order, but after that, the service was good. The flavor of the tacos is good, the style of the Al Pastor meat is not 100% authentic however, it has good flavor. I liked the tortillas and the guacamole.
The decoration and the environment of the restaurant is fun! It is a small though, so we had to put two tables together to fit a party of five. The price and the amount of the food are very fair for this area of town.

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while, and finally went today. I started with a beef taco and a chicken taco – both were tasty. I ended up ordering a pork taco as well, which was a nice addition.
