Sunday Brunch at The Broadmoor
Reviews
It was a great experience and food was outstanding, flavorful, incredible options.
I highly recommend you expirence the Sunday Brunch!
I ordered eggs Benedict but requested pork sausage instead of Canadian bacon. When it arrived the white was uncooked, runny all through. When I asked for it to be redone the server Bridget tried to make it appear that if I wanted the white cooked, I should have specified “poached hard”. I explained what a poached egg should be, fully firm white and viscous (neither too hard nor too runny) yolk. I have eaten eggs Benedict all over Europe, Asia, and North America, and there is no disagreement on this basic objective, but The Broadmoor kitchen and service staff either don’t know or don’t care.
When the eggs came back again, they were slightly improved but still runny. I also detected a brief off-taste in the sausage, so with that I stopped eating after about 3/4th of the first egg.
The restaurant manager came over and again tried to convince me that it was my fault for not specifying Soft-Medium-Hard for the poached egg. So I said forget it.
I am a professional hotelier, owner of a 5-star resort in Asia, Plantation Bay, “a Real Resort with a Real Spa”. While we may not be as fabulous and storied a hotel as The Broadmoor, at least we know how to cook an egg.
We came here for my birthday brunch. First, the ambiance is beautiful—they have very ornate decor, an indoor fountain and plants, and a live piano player. It feels like you’re dining in the garden of Eden. The service is incredible too. They’re extremely nice, attentive, and sent me a birthday cake slice which was a thoughtful little touch.
Next, the food. Overall I thought the food was great! The highlights were the prime rib and snow crab claws dipped in hot butter. I’ve never even seen snow crab claws like this at a buffet before! They were definitely of high quality—succulent and slightly sweet. Usually, I avoid the raw/seafood bar at buffets, but I thought the quality was pretty darn good at this one. However, at this price point, I did expect there to be a bit more variety. There were definitely certain dishes that I kept going back for more. But there were also many dishes that seemed basic and didn’t really appeal to me.
That said, I absolutely loved my experience here and would definitely come back!
The reservations were easy to book via Open Table, though I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t help us recognize the anniversary that we messaged them about. Booking is for 2 hours, but we were seated late for our 13:00 booking, so we didn’t get the full time.
Still, the quality and variety of offerings is solid and the free flowing mimosas & bubbly make this a real treat. Besides the seafood, sushi, meats & cheeses, there are endless pastries and incredible desserts. The seafood included shrimp and oysters. We were a bit sad there weren’t crab legs.
Our server, Jason, was fantastic.
Valet parking is included for the brunch, but this wasn’t clearly communicated on arrival.
