I’ve been a loyal customer of this Thai restaurant for years, drawn by the authentic flavors and warm hospitality—largely thanks to the Thai kitchen staff and the steady hand of the Thai manager. However, tonight’s experience left me deeply disappointed and concerned for the direction this place is heading.
I arrived at 9:10pm on a Thursday, well within their posted hours (they close at 10pm), only to be turned away at the door. The staff curtly informed me they were closing, despite the fact that I’ve dined here many times past 9:30pm without issue. It was immediately clear that the usual management—both the Thai manager and the Indian owner—were absent. Without their oversight, the staff seemed more interested in clocking out early than upholding the restaurant’s reputation.
It’s worth noting that while this restaurant presents itself as Thai, it’s owned and operated by an Indian family with a portfolio of Indian curry houses. The Thai authenticity has always come from the dedicated Thai chefs and front-of-house team. But when leadership is away, that commitment to service and consistency vanishes.
Turning away regulars during open hours is not just poor hospitality—it’s damaging to the business. I’ve supported this place for years, but tonight left me questioning whether it’s still the restaurant I once recommended so highly.

I’ve gotta say this Thai restaurant was absolutely excellent. The food was extremely fresh and tasty authentic flavours and good portions. The staff were very friendly and it is fairly priced for the quality. I would definitely recommend this.

Got this takeaway tonight. Worst Thai I have ever had in my life and we order Thai food once per week. Normally order from place in Christchurch but they were not taking takeaway orders tonight. This food was bland and not like Thai food at all. One piece of chicken was undercooked per photo. Then looked at older reviews and some other folks have gotten ill eating here. Avoid this place!
