I am honestly sad leaving this review.
Man I really wanted the general tso’s chicken I remember ordering from the same nice lady 20 years ago at New China, never again.
The chicken looks and tastes like chicken shack.
The sauce was provided separate and supposed to be medium spicy, but was more like sweet and sour (not Gen tsoas).
The rice turned into clumpy paste (think baking powder with liquid).
This morning my stomach is full of regret
Not that it matters for carry out, but the inside decor and layout is exactly the same from 20 years ago. The carpet… omg
Just trying to wrap my head around what they will do with my $52. Not even maintaining food quality or restaurant aesthetic.
It’s sad, I would pay another $52 to not have eaten it

The food here was SO disgusting and inedible. Pictured is chicken lo mein and as you can see the chicken is pale white and looks like it’s been boiled. Both that dish and the General Tso’s were so bland and tasteless and the egg rolls tasted as grey as they look. Nothing is seasoned, just swimming in water and soggy. We also found hair in the chicken as seen in the close up picture. Idk why this place has such good reviews bc what we received truly horrified us. We will be doing a charge back on the credit card for this purchase as we literally could not eat it and threw it all out.

It was ok but the food wasn’t that great. Service was ok as well. Barely any vegetables in my wonton soup and i recieved saltine crackers for my soup instead of fried wonton strips, the wonton wrappers were too thick. i also got sesame chicken it didn’t taste like sesame chicken it was orange chicken but with sesame seeds on it. The egg roll was also weird and tasted like it had allspice or cinnamon in it which i have had before but personally i thought it wasn’t that good that way.

I have never had anything but a delicious traditional chinese dinner there. Old fashioned bean sprout egg rolls, great wonton soup, and nice portions. We go weekly since we moved to Troy. Michael is always good to talk sports with. I have had Almond Chicken, Chicken Gung Bo, all the Chop Sueys, and crab rangoon also. All consistant and great . Still reasonably priced. 5/5 stars

I ordered sesame chicken with shrimp fried rice. I should’ve known that i wasn’t getting what I paid for when the bag was light. I opened it up and it was only a spoon full of rice with 4 shrimps. About 10pcs of unseasoned chicken. I called back and let them know how small my portion was and he referred me to the manager. She said she will give me more next time. I told her it will never be a next time. The food was disgusting by the way. The guy was very friendly though.

I went in yesterday with a friend, not knowing what to expect (it’s an older place and the parking lot was empty). We were the only ones inside so we got great service from a very nice young man. We had all our questions answered and even got to sample two of the chicken dish sauces. Since they were both delicious, I ordered a combination plate and was delighted with the food. I had almond boneless chicken, sesame chicken, and shrimp fried rice. My friend had fried shrimp and fried rice. I honestly think this was the best Chinese food I’ve had in the last 10 years. In fact, I just had some if my leftovers for lunch! I’m sorry we didn’t know about this place sooner. We’ll be back and I definitely recommend this place to anyone that likes Chinese food.

Not sure how this place has such high reviews… I knew I made a mistake when the gentleman at the front said “just mix the general tso chicken” . I ordered the General Tso chicken and it is by far the worst I ever had… The rice is soggy, the sauce is so thin it’s a joke and it tastes like watered down orange chicken without the orange flavor if that makes any sense. The chicken is super dry and tough. I called the restaurant when I got home and realized how bad the food was and the lady proceeded to tell me the the general tso chicken is the most sold item at the restaurant and that maybe I just don’t like it…. I didn’t ask for my money back but save yours and go elsewhere.
Actually, I would recommend China City at 13715 W 9 mile rd, Oak park on 9mile if you don’t mind the drive.
This place is not it. Like… at all. Photos of what’s about to go into the trash….
Edit: wow, you did your home work. I’m questioning the reviews. However…. Maybe I caught you on a bad day. Maybe the food is really good and I had a bad experience. But… this is what the general two looks like at China city. Be blessed

This place was disgusting. Rice was just browned, no veggies. The sesame chicken was over battered and soggy on the inside and the sauce was not good. The eggroll had a big ugly shrimp in it, I didn’t order a shrimp eggroll. The other eggroll was cold like it had just came out the fridge. I will never go there again.

I’ve always loved this place but they’ve changed a few things. I believe their combo meals are now dinner without soup, egg roll, crispy noodles which are all amazing so it was a bit disappointing this time around when all these things weren’t part of our dinner. Ordering them a la carte is definitely going to up the total bill.
