Last night was the first time we’ve ordered here we love love love the Asian Cuisine sushi spot here in town but sometimes a gal just wants some good Chinese take-out and this little gem did NOT disappoint! We pulled in after a long day at work, about 6pm. I walked in to all the delicious smells, there’s a large order board very visible to make your choices. There are about 6 booths and 4 tables some were taken and about 3 or 4 of us to go orderers. We got the vegetable Lomain, the Mongolian Three Delights and an order of Chicken Dumplings to go. It took about 15-20 min. 4 cooks in total are visible just back there making magic and a sweet gal up front all smiles taking orders giving out done orders and running out food for in restaurant patrons reminding to go orderers to grab some sauces. A gent walked up who had placed an online order and he was given his food and receipt within 2-4 min if that. All in all it was fun to watch how efficient the whole operation ran. We live about 25 min away from portage but food was still warm. The Dumplings ohhhh M G I can’t have pork or red meat so to have a chicken dumpling is such a treat, the sauce though it was literally dunk it, bite it, pour more sauce down the dumpling if you know… you know! Soooo good! Veg Lorain is usually pretty standard but this was special the Veggies were crisp and fresh, I saved half of my Large order to eat cold for lunch today. Because again if you know you know! My husband’s 3 Delights was fire! Shrimp were large and did not have the grosse Midwestern been frozen so many times but hey we live in WI so getting good shrimp is rare taste. Spice profile was spot on and again the sauce. Delicious! I never write reviews but based on the rating they had I’ve passed them up several times and now regret it. We’ve lived up this way for 4 years and I crave Chinese take out ALOT I’m an OG Chang Jiang gal and have written off having the convenience of order- pickup- consume be happy! But not anymore! If your looking for good, fresh, fast, convenient Chinese this is your spot!!! And please if you do stop write a small review I feel like there are others making the same mistake I did. Not anymore they are going to be so tired of my face!!!!

Went in 30 minutes before close (I know, but we were starving) and we still got great service, reasonable wait (about 5 minutes), and amazing food. We order the Orange chicken with a large chicken lo mein instead of rice. My wife says the orange chicken was the best she’s ever had in her life and she’s the pickiest eater I know and, to be honest, I wholeheartedly agree with her. I can’t believe I wanted to eat taco bell.

The food is Authentic Chinese cuisine, great quality, portions, and reasonably priced. Every dish was done perfectly. This is the place to go. Will be visiting again every time we are in the area.

Best Chinese food in Portage. I ordered the chicken fried rice and pork dumplings. My wife chose the orange chicken. It was pretty good. The prices are a little high for the area. The service staff is very friendly and greeted us with a smile. Food was prepared quickly. We’ll be back here for more 🙂

It is typical of what one would expect from a Chinese restaurant. I’ve been to Asian Express multiple times and always had a good experience. The menu items are what is expected for this type of establishment and offers a wide variety of options as well as lunch specials.
A majority of customers do take out. Every time I visited and ate in, I was the only customer, but that doesn’t matter in the big picture. The lobby/seating area is always clean and inviting along with classic Asian decor.
Their food is always hot and freshly made to order. Some other reviewers mentioned delays in take out. I’ve noticed that once, but it was during peak order time (4-6pm). I would much rather wait for better quality product made to order and not fret over an extra ten minutes- life is too short- and it’s worth the wait.
The staff is always very friendly and enjoyable to interact with, and it is great to support a local family business.
They recently came out with a Teriyaki Chicken meal that would be comparable to Sarku Chicken one would see in the Mall. I ordered one with double meat and the portion was enormous. It easily fed my wife and I. The egg rolls were crisp and tasty as well. (See photos)
Overall it is a nice establishment for a quick meal to stop in or carry out- just remember to give yourself a little extra time when busy and enjoy the goodness of the people and cuisine.

This was the first time I had eaten there with the new owners. (Tells you how long since I have been there) The place was very clean and prices were within normal range. I don’t eat rice or noodles so I ordered the appetizer platter and it was very good. I really enjoyed the meat on the stick. It was chicken in teriyaki cooked and the first time I have never had it not be overcooked or dry. It was delicious and meaty. Oh and not greasy. People are very nice too.

Sweet and sour chicken was great until we discovered this.
Our first time eating here ever and came across this within 5 minutes. Looking more we found more inedible pieces that we weren’t sure of. Rice and doughnuts were good so 2/5.
