Mexicali brews is definitely a spot worth visiting once. I wasn’t a big fan of the salsa there was nothing special about it. The queso chorizo dip on the other hand was absolutely amazing, I highly recommend that.

There’s a lot of unique taco choices on the menu.

This time around, I personally ordered the steak fajitas. it was worth every bit of the price. The size of the portion was absolutely massive.

My table got a pitcher of margarita it was good, and a great way to save a few dollars.

Unfortunately, my main complaint is the service was lacking. We waited a long time to be greeted, and have our orders taken. After the food came out the waiter didn’t come over to our table to check on us until we were ready for the check.

A lot of space downstairs with a live band on some nights, and nice area to sit outside in the warmer months which is a plus.

Worth checking out, and I’ll definitely be back.

Many people’s favorite spot for a reason: tons of atmosphere, great drinks, good food. Diverse community vibes, including bingo, live music, and social nights for all types. Relaxed atmosphere, welcoming to everyone, friendly service. Singular signature dishes like fried avocado tacos. Compelling bar and dining area upstairs and down. Festive and cheerful. One of the gems of the area.

1st time having dinner here. Sunday around 5:30, the dining room was packed. Service was great. Mango Margaritas were outstanding. It was 2 of us and we bought a half pitcher for $28 which as sufficient for a Sunday night. We had Nachos with beef. It comes served on an oven tray (little kitschy)
And they were delicious. Not your ordinary nachos. The are on crispy tortilla rounds (4).
We each had a burrito huge! Husbsnd had shrimp burrito, good. I had steak burrito-ok. The strak was chewy, not tender, but flavorful. Next time id get ground beef.

Since it was our first time, we each tried a taco. (They are served and feel more like street tacos and are all in $5-7 each. I probably would not go that route again.
We were stuffed at the end of our meal just like our burritos. We will be coming back! I loved the margaritas & nachos the best.
They also have a specials menu, but we didn’t venture there this time.
The table next to us was raving about the special lobster empanada.

Mar 2, 2024 Update – No changes. Nice place for a relaxing meal.

Sept 18, 2021 – This was our first visit to Mexicali Brews. We liked Sol Cantina – the pre-covid Mexican restaurant at this location – and wanted to give this new place a try. We ordered the Steak Fajitas and the Molcajete (with chicken). The portions were a bit larger than that from Sol Cantina. The food was really good but they need to provide more tortillas for the fajitas. If we return, we may try the Molcajete with steak. Those Sol Cantina customers hoping for the same great complimentary chips and salsa will unfortunately be disappointed. No chips/salsa provided. The staff was very attentive. There is plenty of parking.

This place was great from the moment we stepped in. The hostess was super nice and helpful. There were no seats in the main area and we went downstairs. There was a live band and a very relaxed atmosphere. The fun started with the bartender/server, Jared, who was probably one of the best people I’ve ever met. Genuinely seemed to enjoy what he was doing, making people laugh, and talking with everyone. The food was nothing short of amazing. The meat was flavorful, the drinks were a great mix, and the service was top notch. Do not miss this place.

Just as good as the original Sol. Not sure why some people feel its fell off. Not the case. Ate dinner here on Tuesday night. The sangria was sweet and the food was savory and delicious. The service was as it always was. Still puzzled by the “Brews” part of the name but we didnt go downstairs to the old bar. They should stick to just being amazing Mexican food.

I’ve driven by this place 100 times and never gave it a thought. I finally decided to have dinner and went in. Food was authentic and amazing. On a Tuesday night the place was packed! I had a spicy chicken burrito, and was big enough to feed an army. I also had a couple of margaritas that I posted. Good size and amazing taste. I highly recommend this place, and best to get there around 5-5:30 before the rush. The food is all customized, and nothing is pre-made. Everything is made right there in the restaurant. They also have a variety of vegetarian options.

I got take out and it was good! Taco salad. Lots of beers on tap here, especially for ipa folks. went again two weeks later. IPA beers and some wheats. Food was good. We had fajitas and fish tacos. Sangria and this appetizer – baked jalapeno popper pastry.

Fantastic!! Tried it for the first time tonight.
Delicious flavors and well balanced. Ingredients were fresh. Portion sizes are massive.

The specials all looked amazing.
We tried a burrito and enchiladas. Chips and queso. The flan was the best I have ever had. Absolutely divine!!!

Don’t hesitate to give it a try.

Mediocre Mexican. The chips for the salsa felt like they were out of a box (seasoned, round corn tortilla that was in one piece; you broke up to dip). Same for the nachos – because it was large tortillas, there were a lot of chips with no toppings. The fajitas were large and hot but the shredded lettuce and cheese looked not fresh (poor quality and straight out of a bag). The regular chicken burrito weirdly had little to no beans and was rather dull.
HOWEVER, the Spicy Fried Chicken burrito and Molcajete were the show stoppers. The burrito… be ready for some heat. No additions needed.

Now the Molcajete – amazing. A massive mortar filled with rice, grilled vegetables, and a protein was hot, fantastic flavor, and just fricken awesome. While everything else was lackluster, the steak Molacajete knocked it out of the park.
