Was apprehensive having BBQ at a strip mall and ended up having the best Experience in my 60 years of existence! 1st The Greens were perfect with a slight crunch and not soggy I even sopped up what was left with the garlic bread The chopped pork served on top of the bread was a nice touch. The rest rooms were something cut out of better homes and gardens Very friendly staff!

All of their food is first rate. The chopped pork is really good. The baked beans delicious. As is their collard greens. The service was excellent. We didn’t get the lady’s name but she was pleasant and funny. I would love to go again if I’m ever in the area.

Went in for the first time today and got a half-rack to go – amazing! The lady, I’m assuming she is the owner, is an absolute blessing to speak with! The mix of sweet and spicy sauces were delicious! Definitely made a new customer for life for me.

I work very close to JT’s, but on night shift, so I finally got the chance today to try it out. They did not disappoint!!! I had the brisket with baked beans and collard greens with a surprise sample of Mac-n-cheese. OMG it was all a delicious explosion of flavors. The brisket was tender and juicy. There were some secret spices in the beans along with the sweet, thick sauce, and a very slight hint of heat in their greens. My only regret is having waited so long to get here! And working mostly when they’re closed. Don’t pass the chance to grab some really great food and meet some really nice people. It’s a small dining area so when they’re busy you may want an order to go. But don’t let that stop you!

My husband and I stopped by this place on a whim, and are very happy we did. We tried the chopped pork sandwich, the coleslaw, the potato salad, and the unsweet tea. All were prepared to perfection. My favorite part was the sandwich bread, which is garlic bread toast. They use actual minced garlic and real spices to jazz it up – it’s NOTHING like what you get most everywhere else, with the margarine-drenched, overly salty, bright yellow yet somehow still burnt, piece of Texas toast that tastes like old griddle grease from 2005.
The food here at J&T is fresh, the flavors are well rounded, and if you dine-in the people here make you feel like you’re home.
Also the chairs outside are very comfortable.

So good! The ribs and chicken are fantastic. The barbecue sauce is wicked. They should jar it and sell it. Beans and mac & cheese sides are awesome too. Only criticism: garlic bread would be better on ciabatta or an Italian stick…something other than sandwich bread.

J&T Smokehouse is absolutely everything BBQ should be! The portions are generous, the food is delicious, and the hospitality is gracious.
I ordered the ribs and chicken w/ collard greens and Mac&cheese. Not only did it come out with half a rack of ribs and half a chicken worth of mains… it came out with enough sides to ensure you weren’t left for wanting. All of which came out on a pleasantly decorative plate. I couldn’t have felt more at home.
The smoke on the meats was done to perfection, leaving them flavorful and tender. Sides were very tasty as well, undoubtedly made with love.
As an admirer of great food, I can say for certain that J&T Smokehouse stands above all the BBQ competition in Lake County.
