4 Stars – Tasty Lunch and Convenient Service

I stopped by The Real Pie Man for lunch and had a really solid experience. I ordered the smothered okra and fried catfish, along with a medium-sized seafood gumbo. Everything was freshly made and overall pretty tasty.

The smothered okra and catfish were of good quality—maybe a little more seasoning would have suited my taste, but that’s just a personal preference. The seafood gumbo was also quite good and had a nice flavor, though again, a bit more seasoning would have made it perfect for me.

We did a to-go order, and by the time my husband arrived to pick it up, it was ready right on time—no waiting needed, which was super convenient for our busy workday.

Overall, I’d say it was a pretty good lunch spot and worth a visit!

I order 1 cup of gumbo at 3 in the afternoon….it took them 20 min to bring my food….I thought this was a easy order ( to-go)…..that was the worse gumbo (nasty) I’ve had. I called the next day to tell them..they offer me again worse mistake the 2nd was no better…..won’t waste my money here ever again

Got the crawfish cippie for the first time in many, many years after having been off their menu for said years, and I have to say, it was just ok. It tasted a bit watered down. The fried wings I got with it were stellar, though.

Since Hurricane Katrina I’ve been in Atlanta but every time I go back home to New Orleans I have to stop to get some gumbo from the Real Pie Man. There is no other that compares. Everything else they serve is good too especially the pasta.

The peach cobbler is so good. It’s heavenly and everyone is so pleasant. Every time I go to get something to eat or a quick sweet treat it make me feel like I’m going to my grandma’s house.
