This IS A HIDDEN GEM. Located literally connected to a dollar general. The atmosphere is great. Very clean. The wait staff super friendly (was a little slow on service) the food was amazing. The ONLY thing we didn’t like was that we never got asked about refills on drinks. But, other than that highly recommended

It is what it is. If you’re hungry it does the job. Food is decent. Sometimes the service is great sometimes it sucks. Sometimes you get your food quickly, sometimes it takes 50 minutes to get two plates of enchilada dinners.

I mean it’s in Wallis. It’s the only restaurant in town but it’s pretty good food for what it is. Can’t go wrong.

I had the Tacos Al Carbon (with beef fajita), and one word describes them: delicious! Unfortunately, they didn’t have any Chile Relleno, although on the menu. The service felt a bit rushed, despite my party of two being the only other two patrons present.

Notice they didn’t put jalapeños on the nachos nor brought them on the side? I had to get up and ask for them. The meat was bland. I guess they are trying to cater to Tex mex or people that don’t like flavor. The service was non existent. I had to ask for my check. The waiter was on his cell phone in the other room. It’s Wednesday lunch… not busy. Taco Bell has more flavor than this place. Just keep driving and go into town.

Food was pretty good at a good value (Monday lunch). Had a taco salad. Waiter was a bit eccentric for our taste though. Decor is pretty nice with some plants and a pretty woodland mural.

The place is a typical older Mexican restaurant – but for Wallis, it’s probably one of the nicer eateries. Pleasant surprise, the bar is actually in another room. There are two TVs, at opposite ends of the oblong-shaped main dining room. Driving down the street, you won’t miss it if you can see the bright yellow dollar store sign right next door. I asked if the fan above us could be turned off. He was able to do that without turning off all the fans.

Yes, we were pretty disappointed they were out of crawfish topped redfish. It was Saturday at 6pm and they were already out of redfish and flounder. (Tilapia in not my favorite.) The guy at Vincek’s Smokehouse had told us that it rivaled Pappasito’s dish!

My shrimp tacos had 8-10 small but decent shrimp in each tortilla. It came with shredded lettuce, diced tomato and shredded cheese. I took bites of rice and beans from my husband’s plate to complete my meal, but my taste buds still craved redfish. Yes, the chips were slightly stale and the green and red salsas had no kick, but the red salsa was served nice and warm.

The best thing I can say is that, upon request, they have a delicious, made-to-order habanero salsa to add real heat to the food! Maybe the locals prefer mild, but this salsa will really up the flavor level.

I always enjoy coming here. Rarely do I have an issue with my food, but then again, I usually gravitate to my two favorites, Nachos Al Carbon and Enchiladas Suizas. But today, I ordered the Chile Relleno, cheese only. PRO tip! Do not order the salsa that comes with it, ask them instead to add RANCHERO sauce on top. Trust me on this! The salsa they typically add on top is a sweet and poor excuse for a salsa topping. This is why I recommend you request the Ranchero one instead.
