If you’re in Lynden & hankering for a burger, you have to try their bacon smash burger. It’s not cheap but oh so good! From the double smashed patties, flavorful bacon & tastey sauce, I really enjoyed it! On top of that, the service was warm & friendly & the atmosphere & inviting, modern & clean.

I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at the Newsroom Pub! I had their Bacon Smash Burger and it was excellent. The handmade patties were crispy in the edges but soft and full of flavour in the inside. I ordered a side of tartar sauce for my French fries and it was one of the best ones I’ve had! For dessert, the smash cookie with locally-made ice cream centre was the perfect ending to the meal.

It was good experience in beautiful Lynden with great taste of burger and interesting background of restaurant . I can say it’s historic pub☺️ the lady whose name was “Genesis” (if my writing is correct) was so nice, respectful and professional. Her offer was great. I want to say special thanks to her and we will comeback there again because of Genesis’s nice behaviour and smile.

Their ham & cheese panini was the absolute worst “ham & cheese anything” I’ve ever eaten.

It was so greasy and I don’t understand why. I only ate half of it and it instantly upset my stomach.

I asked the waitress if they cooked it in oil or put oil on the panini press and she said no, and said that they only use aioli on the sandwich itself.

I showed the waitress how greasy it was (pressing down on it with my finger like in the video) and she showed zero concern.

Additionally, I had to flag her down for additional ranch for my salad, and again to get a drink refill and my bill. She was very monotone and while not outright rude, she was far from friendly.

My suggestion going forward… don’t put aioli on this panini and when a customer shows you how horribly greasy it is, offer a solution vs. just blowing them off.

I just moved to Lynden a month ago and am trying various restaurants. I can assure you, I won’t be back.

Our experience was okay. When we ordered, both of our meals were incorrect. And it seemed like they wanted us out with a check early without asking if we anything else, could’ve had another beer. But 2 hours before closing, would’ve been nice. Decent service, but some things can definitely be better.

I am sitting in my car after leaving this restaurant and I’m so upset I have to write this review before I head home. I went to the Newsroom Pub with my adult son who just moved to Lynden. He was excited to try the place as he would love a restaurant to eat wings and watch the game. Everything started out great, good atmosphere and we ordered onion rings to start. They were great. My son ordered the wings and fries and got the chicken panini and a side of macaroni and cheese. My meal was fine, but far from great. My son’s wings were BRIGHT red in the middle. Not just the bones, but the meat too. We called it to the waitresses attention and she brought a manager (?) over who agreed that they were alarmingly red. She took the plate (2.5 wings eaten only) and showed it to a guy in a cowboy hat in the back. When we got the bill they discounted that meal by 10%. ($1.60). We complained that he did not even eat half the meal and then they took the remainder of his meal off the bill. This is the only time I’ve given a negative review as I know everyone makes mistakes, but $1.60 discount was insulting as my son has to worry he will have food poisoning and they took half of the meal from him without any offers to replace his meal.

I had the worst Fish & Chips experience at this restaurant. It was way over cooked and with very dark oil. My wife shared some over cooked meatballs with her friends. The only reason we did not return the food was because our friends invited us to this place and insisted on picking up the tab.
Service was very basic with the first server. We stayed for another round when some from the group left and the service was much better with a different server.
OMG. Never again at this place.

The service here from all staff including cooks is EXCELLENT!!!!!

My favorite is their grass fed local beef smash burger cooked to perfection and the juicest most delicious burger in all of Whatcom County!!!! I had it with a side Cesar Salad instead of fries, this too was very good!!! Portion sizes are ample.

I did try the fish once, it was overcooked each time, sent it back to kitchen because it was literally burnt to crisp, and again returned to me still dry and burnt to crisp was the remake. Definitely consider different breading and less deep fry time will help!

Best fish for our area is Captain Cod’s Company a wholesaler with direct sales from hard working Alaskan fishermen that catch in Alaska only.

They have a food truck that travels all over Whatcom County to make all their breading and fish fresh per order!!! It’s possible they may also flash freeze to distribute to other restaurants to deep fry as well. What would be awesome is to fry in tallow versus canola oil.

In summary, great place to bring friends and family for good food overall.

Recommend asking to lightly fry fish and ask for extra lemons with malted vinegar with side Cesar Salad.

Be great to add New York Cheesecake and Lava Cake to dessert menu as well.

The place seemed nice when we walked in, good ambience, no wait.

The food was so bad. Fries were obviously from a freezer and dry as the Sahara. I got a mule that may have had a splash of alcohol but was 99% ginger beer. The burgers were meh.

The service was disappointing as well. The waitress messed up our orders several times which would normally not elicit a comment from me but then the entire staff was loudly talking about how they hoped no one else would come in so they could leave early. Wish granted, we left as fast as we could.

Not worth the time or money.
