A very cozy, small French restaurant, locates right next to the Athaneum theatre. Love the painted ceiling and intimate settings. Service was quite friendly and food was delightful.(had the beef bourginon and duck confit) both tender and flavourful.

Came here last night for anniversary and food and service was absolutely amazing. With a full restaurant our food came relatively fast and was very tasty. Entrees, mains and desserts were all amazing. Thank you for giving us such a great experience.

A wonderful, intimate spot for traditional French food done well.

At times, it can get a little loud due to the small size of the venue and the number of tables, but lovely all the same.

The best bouillabaisse in Melbourne

Went for dinner and ordered an entrée, a risotto and the bouillabaisse main course. The staff asked if I want the dishes to be served together or one at a time which was considerate. The entrée I had was a freshly baked gratinated seafood volute with two large prawns and scallops; it was rich and creamy but not too heavy. The next dish I had was a squid ink risotto drizzled with basil oil and topped with grilled octopus pieces. The risotto was perfectly cooked with each grain intact but not hard; it was savoury and buttery with hints of the fragrant basil oil and the grilled octopus was tender with a nice charred flavour. The last dish I had was the bouillabaisse which was a hearty and flavour packed seafood soup cooked with saffron, tomato and fennel; seafoods included prawns, scallops, fish and mussels. The rouille aioli was mildly spicy and garlicky which added extra depth of flavour to the soup; and the baked crunchy baguette paired well as it remained slightly crispy and not soggy after being soaked in the soup for some time. For dessert, had the classic creme brulee which was solid; the caramelised sugar layer was thin and crisp, and the vanilla custard was silky smooth with quality vanilla bean used. Overall a great dining experience; everything was delicious and the manager and staffs were very friendly and welcoming. Service was great with water topped up as needed and extra baguette offered to finish the soup.

I think the restaurant deserve a go, especially as the service and atmosphere is not uptight and much like a home.

Service is the stand it here: staff are friendly, personable and very attentive! Food service I must say is pretty quick even with quite a number of customers.

The reason for the 4 stars is mainly as the food itself is not quite outstanding for the price. While the fish is fantasticly cooked, I think it’s not worth 51 AUD. Same with the desert, which was good but not great.

There just isn’t as good of value for what you pay for. I probably got the wrong stuff but that’s how I felt.

Worth a shot still if you’re in the area!

Fabulous place to visit. Quite dark when you walk in and is like stepping back in time. Cost intimate couch area to suit and have a lovely catch up worth friend. Well worth a visit or dine in with someone special.

A star in Melbourne. From the moment we walked in we felt a warm welcome. Though booked it was very easy to change and choose our seating and just felt welcome and immersed in a real French experience. A stand out was the service.. everything flowed impeccably, from the decanter of the wine to the spacing of the meals .. and the mains were to die for… honestly the best beef (cheek) bourguignon I have ever tasted and the Bordelaise Sauce on the eye fillet was sensational. Upon settling the bill there was no pressure for a tip though it was gladly given.. 10/10
