Luigi’s is one of those gems found mainly in the ever dwindling urban European ethnic enclaves – the family-run eatery where Mom & Pop serve you the same outstanding food they cook up at home. They boast, “From our family to yours.” In this case, it’s stick-to-your ribs Italian-American fare.
In this my first visit, I ordered a covered sausage sub, a generously portioned sandwich swimming in a delicious home-made ragu accented with peppers and mushrooms. It was served on a china plate with metal knife and fork – no plastic plate and utensils which is pretty standard these days for this kind of quasi-fast food joint. My meal delighted my taste buds.
Luigi’s offers a variety of pizzas and calzones, which I’ll sample in a future visit. Most customers appear to go there for the pizza.
The restaurant has your classic checker-covered tables and chairs for eat-ins. The place is neat as a pin. The couple who own it are down-home friendly. They also sell a variety of tantalizing Italian desserts. Luigi’s has its own parking lot.
Try Luigi’s out. Chances are you won’t regret it.

Atmosphere was very pleasant. Waitress was super nice, friendly and tentative. Owner was very friendly. Mother-in-law had a nice chat with him after our dinner….some of it in Italian. Food was very good. Large portions at a reasonable price. My stuffed shells could have cooked more. Were too hard still. Got a nice big piece of chocolate cake to go. It was AMAZING!!!! I make a month cake but this cake beat mine by a thousand miles!!!! And the chocolate frosting was SOOOOOOO creamy and yummy!!!!

Ordered a large cheese pizza and an order of mozzarella sticks over 2 hours ago. We paid over the phone too. We waited for an hour and decided to call and check up on our order. The delivery driver and whoever else answered the phone were very rude. The guy said he went to my place and knocked and called us. We were in our living room right next to our front door the entire time. They said they called us too and they did not. I even offered to show them our call log. They fought us and acted like we were lying. They fought our refund as well. We called back and the delivery guy said he couldn’t read the owners writing and that the owner messed up the phone number and address. They agreed to give us a refund but didn’t know how to do it over the phone or put it back on our card. They had to come in person and give me cash. When they entered the apartment building the guy started going up the stairs and looked confused because this time over the phone I made sure they had our address correctly and phone number correct this time. I opened my door and confronted them. He lied to my face and said he came to my door the first time. If he came to my door the first time then why did he not know which way to go after entering the complex. I will never give them my money or any service again. Very unprofessional and unfriendly. If I could give them 0 stars I most definitely would. They didn’t even have the audacity to apologize and own up to the mix up. If it was handled better to begin with this review wouldn’t be happening right now because I am a very understanding person.

So incredibly disappointing. Half an hour late for delivery through Door Dash. I didn’t get what I ordered, and it was cold. We got 6 mozzarella sticks instead of the advertised 8. No baked cheese on the second entrée, even though we paid extra for it. All the food we did get was mediocre. No Utensils, napkins, salt, pepper, butter for bread. All in all a miserable food experience. No single aspect of the order correct.

When I first moved to Rome a little over a year ago, Luigi’s was my go to pizza and wings place. Their large pizza and wings deal was awesome for football on Sundays, and was more than enough for two meals each between my girlfriend and myself. Since football season has ended, I have branched out to other Italian restaurants in Rome; Some of which are very good. Tonight for the hockey playoffs, I decided to order from Luigi’s again. This was easily one of the worst order-out experiences I’ve ever had for the following reasons:
1) The guy taking my order seemed annoyed or even irritated that I was calling.
2) They were out of certain toppings that we normally order. When I changed our order to adapt to this, the guy taking my order got more irritated with me.
3) I was told it would take 45 minutes for my order to come. It ended up taking an hour and a half. About an hour and five minutes after I ordered, the delivery guy called and asked where I lived, eventhough I had given this information to the guy taking my order.
4) When the food finally arrived, we opened the pizza box to find that half of the cheese from the pizza was solidly stuck to the top of the box, effectively ripping the cheese from the rest of the pizza.
5) What cheese remained on the pizza informed us that our order was wrong. We ordered a large, half plain, half mushroom and ham pizza. What we got was a large half with mushroom and half with ham. This was despite the fact that the guy who took my order correctly read our order back to me when I ordered.
6) I ordered blue cheese with the wings, and got none.
7) All this aside, the worst part was the wings. TWO of our first 10 wings had FEATHERS fried into them. We threw the remaining ones out.
The reason I gave a 2 instead of a 1 is because in the past their service was adequate and their food was good and it was relatively inexpensive. This experience, however, was inexcusable in my opinion. If any two or three of the above things happened, I would have chalked it up to a bad night, but all of them happening at once is not a fluke. Given the overwhelming number of pizza and wing places in Rome, I don’t think I will be ordering from Luigi’s again.

the staff is excellent. welcoming, warm and friendly. The dining ro was neat, clean and very comfortable. We had a loaded antipasto salad and split a huge and flavorful chicken parmesan sandwich made on an Italian sub roll. I couldn’t be happier. one small snafu was we got a pizza to go with sausage, mushrooms and green peppers, when we got home the mushrooms turned into onions… stupid masks.. that’s what I’m blaming. So we picked off the onions and the pizza is pretty darn delicious as well. thanks guys and girls for a wonderful lunch.
