I used to go to this restaurant at it’s older location. The food was amazing before…I was excited to bring my family member from out of town there. I went to the original location which is where I realized they moved to Queen Street.
I’m not sure what has happened since they switched locations. The food was not the same. Everything tasted more greasy. The brisket was just awful, probably some of the worst brisket I’ve ever had from a restaurant. The ribs were stuck to the bone, it use to fall off at the old location. Pulled pork had a decent flavor, but was very greasy. It completely drenched my family members bun for their sandwich..it was soggy to the point they didn’t want to eat the whole thing. Sausage was good, but the old location had cheese in them which has not carried over to the new location. Chicken wings weren’t impressive at either location but before the rest of the meal made up for that. Even the BBQ sauce the platter came with was different, I didn’t end up using it on anything. Also the cornbread use to be served warm, this time is was extremely cold.
I will say the peppers it came with were delicious. And I did enjoy the salads as well.. especially the dill coleslaw.
Most of the menu items from the older location weren’t available unfortunately. It was a pretty disappointing experience all around. We all left feeling kind of gross overall. The food didn’t sit well for any of us. The restaurant itself also was extremely cold, we ended up putting out jackets back on mid dinner. Such a different atmosphere all around..
Maybe they sold the business to the pizza place it’s now sharing space with. I’m not sure. I did ask and they said it was the same owners, but it really seemed like someone new had taken over. Either way, it definitely won’t be a place i go back to..it wasn’t worth the 140 dollars for the three of us.
Great food, brisket is incredible & mac n cheese is delicious, creamy and perfectly cooked noodles !! Thanks so much, we will definitely be back ♡
We started with the brisket Mac & cheese which was massive & SO creamy & delicious!
For our entree I couldn’t decide between a couple of items so our amazing server said he would surprise me. So I ended up with the avocado turkey sandwich. This thing was massive. I couldn’t even eat it properly. Everything was so fresh. The bacon was thick cut & even with all that turkey it still was a big star of the whole sandwich!
The fries were crispy & well seasoned. The coleslaw shocked me too. I was fully expecting it to be a typical vinegar base slaw. Which I’m not a big fan of but it was creamy & full of flavour!!! I really enjoyed it.
On Saturdays they have chicken specials so my husband with the chicken and waffles. It came with four pieces of chicken and two huge waffles. Everything was cooked to perfection & we left happy & satisfied.
Everything cost $58 bucks. With the portion sizes it was WELL worth it. As soon as that Mac and cheese hit our table the first thing I said to my husband was. “Okay that’s worth $15.99”.
Highly recommend this place. I can’t believe we have never been here before! We will very happily be returning
I love food, all parts of it.. from growing fruits and vegetables and herbs, making all my own sauces and creating dishes, so I think I know food.. …
The first visit I was taken back at the portion sizes, they are huge! And the prices are more then reasonable. The food was delicious. My fiance had the trashcan nachos. Omg! Talk about a mountain of goodness! The portion is huge! We definately took food home with us. I was a little dissapointment only because they had tam out of brisket..BUT, there was a prime rib sandwich that was the special that evening and it was soooo good. Our server was Hettie, and she was the sweetest thing ever.
Last night we again went and my fiance had the Trashcan Nachos..so good and again we brought some home.
I ordered the Philly cheesesteak brisket. I hate to say that it wasn’t quite what I expected, I mean it was very good and it was a huge sandwich, however, it was on bread more like a baguette, which I can not chew properly (yes I realise that’s my own problem),and I assumed it would have been on more of a bun. The sandwich also had crispy onions on it, which I did not see on the first sandwich and I mentioned that to Rachel the waitress, she said they put them underneath the meat (which I found odd, as it is a topper).. (she is awesome btw),anyways she realised that I was having a hard time with it and they remade it very quickly with a regular bun.
I would definately recommend this restaurant!
The only reason that I am giving 4 stars is because we both asked for a glass of water and were refused, and made to order and pay for a bottle of water… I for one do not like water enough to pay for it..
It’s a really great place to eat really great food and the staff is also really great. We did have the pleasure of meeting the chef (Brian, I think his name was ) he works the evening kitchen when the owner isn’t there.
Food is excellent…
The location is a bit strange, I would have never noticed it if I didn’t hear about it from my fiance..
Go check them out!
When you’re dining in they have an extensive selection of soft drinks, draught beer and local craft beers available.
I’ll be back to try the beef ribs next time.
