We lived in Italy a good many years and are finicky about pizza and pasta. The Jimmy pizza was very good. A tad underdone but very tasty. The octopus appetizer was the best I’ve ever had! The steak, lamb, charred broccolini and lemon tart all world class.
Il cibo era Meravigliosa! Bravo!
We highly recommend and well worth the trip!
The fingerling potatoes were perfectly crisp and well-seasoned. The Caesar salad was delicious and the house made croutons were a nice touch. The beef tartare and egg confit paired well together. The octopus was perfectly charred on the outside while still being extremely buttery and soft. Lastly, the tiramisu was decadent and rich, but also fresh and light. The cocktails were also beautifully presented and tasted delicious. It was a great spread. We will definitely be back!
They have some good weekly specials: 1/2 price wine on Tuesdays and music on the patio on Wednesdays.
It’s a lively spot with great drinks. The people are very friendly.
I’ve tried The Jimmy twice for brunch and have been disappointed both times.
The first time, I had the avocado toast. It was unremarkable. The spritz did not taste like a spritz…it was overly wine forward.
The second visit, we sat on the patio, which was nice. I had the hot honey pizza (good but not great…I had to order sauce on the side because the crust was dry). I ordered brunch flight (which is 3 sample sizes of their brunch drinks), but it was overly sweet with too much of the syrups (exhibit A: how orange and dense the aperol spritz is in my photo). So I ordered the margarita, which was good. My total bill after 20% tip was $85. For that price tag at brunch, I would have expected a truly stellar dining experience.
I’m not likely to return, as I can get a much more robust dining experience elsewhere for less or the same $$.
Definitely gotta go back again but hey the food was a 8/10 and the environment was a 10/10 in a nice spot of charlotte. Steak was a little small and the panini was a little oily from the pesto but still got a lot of other stuff on the menu to try. Will return
