We were lucky enough to have Robin herself cooking during our visit! We ordered a Rueben, a breakfast burrito with sausage, and green chili, and a children chicken finger lunch. O.M.G. The Rueben was out of this world! I’ve had Rueben’s all around the country and world and this was definitely in my top 5! What a surprise! The green chili was delicious. I personally don’t like green chili and I ate about half of my husbands it was so good! Everything is fresh, made from scratch, and just plain delicious!
The owner even spoke with us about some of the history of the green chili making and about where they source their meat and things. Really great quality!
They have a very nice and good selection on their menu and pricing is very reasonable.
I recommend stopping here if you’re passing through and definitely make this a regular spot if you’re a local. Our daughter hasn’t stopped talking about us stopping by on our way home!
Thank you Bill and Robin’s nest for a wonderful experience and meal
After two weeks in Central America, my husband and I were exhausted and starving when we stopped at Robin’s Nest Cafe in Fairplay – the perfect halfway point on our 5-hour drive home from DIA. What a find!
The comfort food here is cooked to perfection. I ordered the breakfast burrito, and it was everything we needed – generously filled with eggs, bacon, home fried potatoes, and cheese, all wrapped in a soft tortilla that made it easy to eat. The portion was so large it fed me for lunch, then my husband for a mid-afternoon snack!
Our server Abby was incredible – she seamlessly moved through the restaurant taking orders, delivering food, welcoming guests, and bussing tables with such efficiency that she made it all look effortless. Her friendly demeanor added to the welcoming atmosphere.
This is exactly the kind of place you want to discover on a road trip. Great food, warm hospitality, and honest portions. We’ll definitely be stopping here again whenever we drive through Fairplay.
Undercooked pancake, home fries were burnt and very greasy.
Also, $45 for 2 people to eat breakfast is a bit expensive.
We understand people can have an off day, but the vibe we got is that this is a common occurrence. Our money is too valuable to roll the dice on a place like this again.
My partner couldn’t get a refill of coffee to save his life, there were items missing from my order and my eggs weren’t cooked properly, and the cooks kept getting on the server about everything she was doing wrong. I understand feedback is necessary but it was so loud everyone in the restaurant could hear her being scolded and I felt like it was very unprofessional.
Hopefully others have a better experience and the restaurant can take this as constructive criticism to help make other diner’s experiences better than ours.
The food was fresh, and it was some of the best sausage I’d had in a while. I don’t know if they made it there or bought it, but who cares? It was good.
Right at the turn from 285 to 9 at the stop light. You can’t miss it and there’s a fly shop next door.
You walk in to be greeted as if you are a part of the family.
The service is beyond white glove service.
The food is always fresh, cooked to order, nothing frozen, and Ridiculously delicious!
I will make it a point to stop by each and every chance I get!
You will NOT be disappointed!!
