The Red Frog has a name and 40+ year history like no other bar in Cedar Rapids, as we took over ownership we have heard many stories of the upbringing of this beautiful bar. We learned the family ties from when Al first opened it, we learned about the family disputes, we learned of the changes when it was converted into a Pub and Eatery, then later when it joined forces with Lucky’s next door and became Dirty Shirleys, and lastly when it became The good ole’ Red Frog again. There’s no doubt that this bar is loved by the community and our only goal is getting The Red Frog back to being the best it can be.

My husband went there New Years Day. He ordered a cheeseburger and said it was good. He ordered a take out Rueben sandwich for me. This is a picture of what was inside. Nine chunks of cement like Gristle. I’ve ordered Ruebens often at many different places but NEVER had anything like this. If I was there , no way would I have paid for this. Sorry but whomever made this had of know this wasn’t acceptable. Just plain nasty!

We haven’t been in since they remodeled and it looks great!! New menu as well that they serve the whole menu till 1am. Service and food was awesome. The cook even split our burger and salad we were sharing. Don’t usually rave about bar food but WOW it was so good!! Best combo platter ever. Didn’t catch the bartenders name but she was great too. Great job Red Frog!! We will be back.

This is my go-to for late night food. I just had the most incredible burger I have had in a long time. Huge fan of the down south burger, perfectly cooked and super flavorful. I like mine pink in the middle and kitchen staff DELIVERED- I didn’t even specify how I wanted it cooked, they just read my mind.

When I go to Red Frog on my own I have the wonderful opportunity of savoring one of their hamburgers, I enjoy every juicy bite, noticing the flavors dancing on my tongue, I feel the texture with each chew, appreciate the nourishment the chef offered me that evening. This is really what I feel : a sense of joy in the simple act of eating there. Is really that incredible? Only trying it you will know.
4/27/24 * I went back and my experiences continue! , The bartender recognizes me at sight, not only she was able to remember better than me what I drank that day, but also what kind of Burger I ate and the sides I asked! She is so amazing. I am telling you, that is good service and look at the Boss Burger I ate! Delicious!

Very nice Bartender, I probably won’t ever order food here again. I mean during the day anyway they have a long time night cook that’s awesome. I couldn’t even take a bite of my meal today. The Togo boxes is from the night cook the other is during the day. (That’s how it came out bun alone made me not want to eat.) super upset I recommend this bar to so many. No thanks on a discount. I was just hungry.

Came by on a Thurs night just with happy hour starting, place was packed but got quick and wonderful service. The food was great. Reuben and philly were delicious, and definitely try the frog legs! The one woman working the bar, taking orders and running food was doing fantastic. Was well worth the stop.

We were there for lunch, it took a while for anyone to come out from the back (possibly shorthanded). But the special was good and filling. Old bar atmosphere. Waitress was very sweet and accommodating.

New girl on Tuesday nights is a joke. I asked for food menus and a shot for each of my friends and I. It took 15 minutes to get the shot. After dropping of the shots I didn’t get to talk to her the remainder of the night. I almost walked out on the bill. Never once asked me if I wanted a drink or food. Never came back to the table to check in. She made the shot wrong. Wrong vodka for an upside down pineapple cake shot. Used vanilla Smirnoff vodka and idk if she even used pineapple juice or maybe it was expired I’m not sure. Worst shots I’ve ever taken. And even worse customer service. Owners always drinking at their own bar, get way better service than the patrons actively paying their bills. TVs always on a loading screen.
