I have been to this place many times over the past 19 years.
I visit that area frequently…
Lately over the past few months they have raised the prices and there are less ingredients in their dishes.
I am not buying from here anymore.
This meal I brought home tonight was suppose to be a South Western Grilled Chicken with Penne Pasta.
I had 2 mini bites of chicken, no sauce, no seasonings, no cheese. Tasted like bland nothingness.
I had to get more chicken and made a marinara sauce and grated cheese in it.
Last month I also bought another meal to go with chicken and it was bad too.
I give this place a O now.
I am done.

While we love Southern Star and give them high marks, it’s getting more difficult to order from them due to everything (except blue plates) coming home in plastics, plastic, plastics. Home dishes nor re-use of previous plastic containers are allowed.

Best carry out dishes and food! Poppyseed Chicken casserole is my favorite! You can freeze it and bake it later, too. Fresh salads, veggies, desserts – great banana pudding! Perfect to serve as your own with guests, for you and/or your family, also perfect place to get dishes for potluck, and great if you need to bring a dish. You can call ahead too and have them set aside your favorite in case they run out.

I recently used Southern Star on Signal Mountain for a family lunch after a funeral. Our family raved about how wonderful the assorted quiche, orzo salad, and cookies were. The staff at Southern Star were also a delight to work with. I’m definitely stopping by the next time I’m in town.

Tourists driving by after a hard day hiking. Walked in, was greeted by a dozen smiling faces who made it clear that the ‘take out’ aspect was brilliant! Don’t underestimate by location! We ate like royalty. NOT a ‘comfort food’ dive. Grilled salmon with watermelon relish? Lawdy! Eat here!
