Everyone had been raving about it, so I couldn’t wait to try it! Despite some really delicious-sounding specials like salmon piccata, I decided on my favorite dish to try at any new Italian restaurant I visit, named here as the Pasta alla Vodka. This seems to be traditionally served with penne noodles, and at Pazzo Bene, you are able to choose from penne or gnocchi. I thought that was perfect, because any place that allows you to substitute noodles or create your own dish, I usually order the Vodka cream sauce with the gnocchi, so I was excited that it was actually on the menu that way here without a build your own!

I added a glass of the Smith & Perry Pinot Noir to go with the pasta. Although I didn’t take her up on it, I wanted to mention that our server offered to let us have a taste of any wine we were considering.

My husband had the Spaghetti Carbonara, wanting to order something also a bit different. He had a nice discussion about when to add in the egg with our server, which I thought was impressive how much she knew about the preparation of the dish she serves.

Of course, the pre-meal bread and homemade giardiniera were delicious, as everyone mentions. I was glad to have heard about it, so I knew to say yes when asked if we wanted to try the spicy giardiniera. As my hubby added some Parmesan to top off his third piece of bread with the mix, he commented, “Am I just really hungry, or is this all extra good?” To answer his question, I think it was extra good!

The giardiniera is not overly spicy, so do not let that scare you away (unless you have no spice tolerance at all). In addition to the traditional peppers and carrots, Pazzo Bene’s blend includes green olives and even cauliflower. Since it was so good (and I assumed they would not be re-serving our container), I asked our server if she could wrap up what we didn’t finish when she packaged my leftovers. She kindly obliged and even went above and beyond to wrap the to-go container in plastic wrap to help contain any potential spills. Excellent service!

To complete the dinner, we ordered the tiramisu for dessert, but our server came back to sadly report they were sold out – which tells me, it must be really good, so we will be back for it! Instead, we cleansed our palates with hazelnut and vanilla gelato.

Being here on a weeknight was nice, because it was less crowded, allowing us to take in the full ambiance of the room. We also got to meet the owner Gregory, as he did his rounds checking on everybody’s meal. Very kind and genuine, he checked in with us multiple times to make sure everything was good.

Fun fact: “Pazzo Bene” translates to “Crazy Good.”

I’ve lived in the La Grange area for 40 years. This is without a doubt the best Italian restaurant in the area. Superb authentic food, signature drinks, great wine menu. The owners make you feel like you are part of the family.

An amazing Italian restaurant. The vibe was very welcoming. Server talked to our whole family and gave great wine suggestions. Portions were HUGE!! Come with an empty stomach! My chicken parm was very good, spaghetti was fabulous. Apps were great as well. Overall, we will be back again!!!

Let me start by saying the food is absolutely amazing! The lasagna and lobster ravioli are top tier! The service was horrible! When we walked in the host had her back turned towards us and never turned around she talked to us with her back turned the entire time! Then she ended up being our waitress which was horrible, she gave us the wrong check with someone else debit card in there and when she bring our check she said “this is your check it’s less expensive” I would recommend take out if you eat her because the experience was very bad but the food was amazing

A hidden gem. Excellent service. The Pazzo Benne take on Italian cuisine is creative and delightfully tasty. Eaters be cautious of the Pazzo Bene style dishes which contain fresh home made giardinara. Must try the home made italian sausauge. I gotta say, everything we tried was simply delicious. Will be returning.

I wish we could give partial stars because the only reason that I am not giving the full 5 is the lack of masking by the staff. Other than that, our visit was impeccable. The food is wonderfully traditionally Italian. The wine list is extensive and well curated. Service was prompt, friendly, and consistent. Portions are large, so come hungry or enjoy the leftovers. The owner makes a point of talking with guests and makes great recommendations for wine (including providing tastes) and there was a vocalist performing the night we were there. Her jazz selections were especially enjoyable. As soon as my immune-compromised self feels “safer” in the real world, we’ll be going back….and probably often!

La Grange is at the beginning of opening back up. I intended to go to a different restaurant and saw Pazzo Bene. They recently opened up and are new to the area. I loved the ambiance. Food was excellent. I had the sausage and peppers with a side of pasta which was outstanding. The owner Greg came by several times to make sure everything was OK and to converse. It’s always nice when the owner goes out of their way to make sure people are happy. Great place and looking forward to the next time.

First time there last evening and had a wonderful experience. Warm greeting from owner and attentive service. The warm bread and giardinere were great for starters. Both entrees were perfectly prepared – can’t wait to return with friends so we can sample some of the other things on the menu. Very welcoming atmosphere for families, groups or couples. Will definitely be returning!
