Raise a glass to history at Tapping the Admiral, Beaufort’s premier rum bar. Our name pays homage to the legendary (and slightly macabre) tale of Lord Admiral Nelson, whose body was preserved in a cask of spirits for his final voyage home—leading thirsty sailors to tap the admiral for a drink along the way.
Located within a historic building in the waterfront historic district, we offer:
Craft Cocktails: Expertly mixed drinks featuring our house rums and vodkas.
Atmosphere: Choose between our sophisticated indoor lounge or our vibrant outdoor bar with waterfront breezes.
The Legend: Immerse yourself in maritime lore while enjoying the finest spirits on the coast.
Whether you’re a local or just drifting through, come toast to the A

Love hanging out at Tapping the Admiral Rum Bar. The prices are great. They have a nice selection of beer and wine on tap. On certain days they offer live music with fantastic local musicians. They have heat warmers and fire pits to keep you warm in cold weather. The owners are fun, welcoming, and very friendly!

Best place in Beaufort for live music in a very casual outdoor setting. They usually have 10 taps for the beer drinkers and wine and seltzer on tap. They also now serve spirits and have a good selection of bourbon and rum. Live music starts early at 6 pm Thursday thru Saturday and they open early on most Sundays. Park at the Methodist Church’s parking lot on Ann Street and walk over.

Bartenders are great and they have wine, beer, and cider on tap.
Update: still the best bar in Beaufort, inside TVs play any sport you want to watch, outside bar has live music and usually a food truck. Still the most happening place most weekends!

Great bar to chill at. Some dynamite music that can be local or from afar! Bartenders are on top.of it and the Owners are lovely people. And if you’re looking for a place with great bathrooms… just saying. Lots of shade and some cool misters!

Actually one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a bar. I felt degraded as a woman. The manager of the bar threw nasty comments at us and then followed us to the next bar. We are a group of women that did not need to be followed by this random man. The bar itself did not have enough good morale to be fun anyway. Will never be going back and you shouldn’t either.

First time at Tapping the Admiral! Had a delicious cranberry mimosa that was suggested by exceptional bartender Kyle. Plenty of outdoor seating. Bring your relaxed attitude and enjoy some time there. Highly recommend!

Great place for a cold beer on a hot afternoon with friendly staff. Dogs welcome here as well as everywhere in town. There is no rum at the rum bar

Love this hidden gem. Great place to enjoy outside seating. Pet friendly and an open space. Won’t be great for rainy days, no cover. Beer, wine and champagne available. No food.

Great little place for community events. We came for live music. They don’t understand that everyone doesn’t drink alcohol. Maybe have Coke or Pepsi options?

Great out of the way bar, open air, beer and wine only so far… have to find it. Lots of good people frequent the place, good conversations with locals and travelers to this sea port. Very rare to see anyone with bad attitude here.
