Wow! This pizza is the best I’ve had in some time and I eat A LOT of pizza. I mistakenly ordered the pizzas for the wrong day and when I checked to see if it was ready for pickup noted my error. One quick call and the wonderful Otto straightened it out and the pizza was ready in 30. The flavor! The texture! I loved that bit of resistance when my teeth hit the cheese baked into the sides of the crust and broke through to the light and tangy dough. The pizzas held the generous portions of topping well and were baked to perfection. We sliced them at home (good advice). I highly recommend Molten Monkey. The pizza is amazing, the price just right, and the service tops! Whether you take out or dine in, you can’t go wrong. Will be ordering again soon.

We ordered pickup for New Year’s Eve as we all wanted pizza. Having had the original Detroit style pizza in Detroit (Buddy’s), we have been wanting to try. We ordered Monkey Styx with Monkey Sauce (reminded me of buffalo sauce but a little sweeter) and 3 pizzas-Piggly Figgly, Big Chungus, and Chicken Bacon Ranch. All was delicious and had the perfect Detroit style crust with the crispy cheese edges as you would expect. I probably still preferred the Big Chungus as it’s the classic meat style, but I did enjoy all the types we tried. We’re excited to try some of the other flavors next go around. Definitely will be back! 🙂 Perfect family NYE meal.

Molten Monkey Pizza was hands down the best pizza I’ve had in a long time. Every single bite was unreal the flavor combinations, the perfectly cooked crust, the sauces… OMG. Truly mouth-watering. You can tell so much thought and care goes into every detail. Start with monkey stik, and whatever pizza sounds good just do it because you will come back!
On top of that, the aesthetic is on point and the hospitality takes it to another level. The owner, Otto, is incredibly welcoming and passionate, which makes the experience even better. You don’t just feel like a customer you feel taken care of.
If you’re in Madison and you love pizza, this place is a must. Do yourself a favor and go. I’m already thinking about my next visit.

We were welcomed right away & sat at a cozy table for 2 near the window. The pizza choices were outstanding along with the beer/wine selection. The Big Chungus was topped with over-the-top fennel sausage, bacon, ham & pepperoni. We will definitely drive across town to have their scrumptious pies again!

We enjoyed piggly Figgly pizza was amazing flavor! Was dark and romantic in the restaurant. 6 bar stools and that’s where customers sit and eat! Don’t think you’re going to sit at the bar before you get a table! Host was very helpful and polite!

The pizza was awesome! So much flavor and the crust was delicious. Definitely worth stopping by. The meatballs was also delicious. I would prefer more dipping sauce for the meatballs, but the texture was prefect! I can’t wait to go back!!!

Excellent service, fun atmosphere, and awesome food. This pizza is LIFE! I told myself only two slices and just had to stuff my face with a third, SO good! Vegan-style Umami Bomby is my absolute new fav. My husband enjoyed his pizza, Piggly Figgly as well. Thanks for the deliciousness, Molten Monkey !

The vegan pie at Molten might be the BEST we’ve had in Madison. It’s a little complex to get the vegan crust along with the vegan cheese and “meats,” but you need to specify vegan crust on your order. I suggest ordering the day before, because they only make so much of it. It was worth it. Otto was gracious and all the staff we interacted with was friendly and caring. We had an order with vegan crust, AND without and they got it right! We did end up with the vegan pepperoni in all pies instead of the vegan sausage on one, but it was all delicious and we are definitely buying again. The burnt cheese on the crust… YUM. You guys are awesome! Thanks Otto.

Our first time at Molten Monkey was great! The crispy-edged pizza lived up to the hype. The Umami Bomby was perfect with added sausage. The chicken bacon each was great, too. I need to get back to try the meatballs and Monkey stix! We went right at opening on Sunday at 4 pm, and we were lucky to get a table for 4, given the very limited seating. Friendly staff, fantastic Detroit-style pizza!
