First of all, Don’t let the pictures fool you. We booked the New Year’s Eve 5 course dinner to celebrate with our family (5 people) and were extremely disappointed, especially for a meal that cost over $1,200 While the dishes looked good visually, the flavors were very poor and inconsistent. The halibut was either overly salty or had no salt at all, the short rib did not taste like short rib and was served barely warm, almost cold, and the scallops crudo was not flavorful and did not taste fresh. The cheese course was very basic, with cheeses you can easily find at a grocery store. Desserts did not save the experience. The cheesecake was bad and the only reasonable item was the lemon tart. We brought our family expecting a special night, but most people barely ate. For the price and the occasion, the experience was unacceptable.

The atmosphere of this restaurant is beautiful, however the service is mediocre. At one point our waitress disappeared for a good 45 mins. It took a long time to receive the food which did not taste fresh. We had the shrimp pasta and chicken plate. They give a very underwhelming amount of flavorless chicken with beets on the side, a very interesting combo. The shrimp pasta was a good proportion but tasted like frozen food.

We visited this restaurant for the beautiful terrace, and it absolutely delivered—spacious, charming, and perfect for a relaxing evening. The atmosphere was lively but not too loud, making it a great spot to unwind. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout the night, which really added to the overall experience.

The starters were a pleasant surprise—flavorful and well-prepared, with the Brussels sprouts standing out as a real highlight. Unfortunately, the mains didn’t quite live up to the setting. Both the filet mignon and the chicken were overcooked, which was disappointing given the quality we expected.

Overall, a great place for drinks, light bites, and a beautiful terrace evening—but if you’re going for the main courses, you might want to manage your expectations.

Magical dining experience at the stunning Mediterranean Room in the La Valencia Hotel in La Jolla. Sitting on the dog friendly patio you can see a beautiful view of the ocean and downtown La Jolla. We enjoyed the red wine, Oaxacan Spanish octopus, striped sea bass, and coffee crusted lamb. The service was friendly, quick, and accommodating. Recommend!

Come for drinks only. I love this place for the romantic vibe, flowers, and sea view. Atmosphere is great. The drinks are not going to be up the the standard of speakeasies in SD like Youngblood, Mothership, Remedies, etc., but close enough. I am quite disappointed by the food. The burger/fries was cafeteria quality. The sandwich looked like something I’d slap together at home. The side salad was a pile of greens, nothing else. For those prices, they could fix whatever is wrong with their kitchen. As for the wedding venue, from what I saw of it, it’s also overpriced and overhyped unless you’re really all in on that slice of ocean horizon. To each their own.

I attended the Holiday tea on 12/19 and it was one of the best Teas I have attended!
Ashley and Aaron waited on myself and my mother in law and they were fantastic!

I have a nut allergy and had mentioned it when I made the reservation months ago and they took me by surprise when they brought out a fully separate plate with all the items that they knew there fully nut free and did not mix with any of the pastries that had nuts in them.
It was such a nice touch and made the tea less stressful!

We plan to return to the Spring Tea as well!

The only “issue” was that as we enjoyed the table and food so much that we sipped our tea slowly and the tea did get cold after 1.5 hours since there was not anything to keep it warm.

Lovely restaurant in a beautiful Spanish-style hotel. The view is unbeatable. We came here for brunch with the family. Our server was warm and friendly. I asked to substitute the ham for salmon in the eggs benedict and it was delicious. We all agreed the blueberry pancakes were the best we’d ever eaten!

We had a late lunch at The Mediterranean Room and it was absolutely perfect. 3pm on a Thursday was slow crowd but very fast and attentive service- our drinks were refreshed before we could set them down! Ryan was our waiter and he was extremely pleasant.
We were seated outside, no reservation because it was a slow time in the afternoon. The view was spectacular!

First, we shared the Ahi Poke Nachos which were lovely. They had lots of fish on top with perfectly crispy wonton chips.

Next we shared the Flatbread- the salmon was also a very generous portion and very delicious.

Lastly we ordered the Jumbo Lump Crab Cake BLTA. The bacon was nice and crisp and the crab cake was a very generous size once again.

Overall this was a perfect late lunch! Great date location, lovely atmosphere and amazing service.

I just enjoyed an excellent meal at the Mediterranean Restaurant at La Valencia Hotel! The chilaquiles were rich, delicious, and incredibly filling. The laid-back vibe and stunning ocean view made it the perfect spot for a relaxing and tasty brunch. I highly recommend it!
