Lovely meal! The staff were so kind, and the food was delicious. We ordered the bread board, scotch eggs, and (daily special) crab cake. For mains, the shepherds pie and bangers&mash. The potatoes were creamy and the gravy incredibly rich. 10/10 would eat again.

We had such a great meal and amazing time at Rambler tonight. The food was elevated and very well executed, the drinks were perfect, and the service on point. It felt like a neighborhood pub, but with excellent food. I especially loved the Welsh Rarebit and Bangers and Mash. We will definitely be going back!

My husband and I were excited to try the new Irish Bistro in Yarmouth. Mostly because the website states that they have cod (fish n chips) on the menu. We made a reservation, for a Wed evening around 530pm to try it out.
The atmosphere was very cozy. But the seating is cramped, and you will be sitting close to your neighbor, if that bothers you, then may want to reconsider. This wasn’t an issue for us but would have opted to sit at the bar so that we didn’t have to yell across the table at each other, as the music was up very loud.
Looking at the menu was a big disappointment to see that it wasn’t cod but haddock listed. Most places in Maine serve Haddock. I don’t care for it. When I asked the server about it. She kindly checked, but sadly she stated that they started off with cod but now switched to haddock. I asked how long they had been open, she replied 10weeks. I asked if the website was going to be updated to reflect the change. She said she didn’t know. I don’t know the reason but I’m assuming cod costs more than haddock. So if you are like me and prefer cod, they don’t serve it here. Still, not a big deal, just a big disappointment. They had plenty of other things on the menu to try.
We started with the scotch egg, very appetizing. I got the butter rum hot drink, and my husband got a beer. I ordered the Tikka Marsala (chicken). They have a vegan option, if you prefer not to eat meat. My husband got the bistro burger. He said it was good. When the Tikka Marsala came out, I knew, it wasn’t prepared correctly.
Normally, it has a crème tomato mix but this was very red, almost, like spaghetti sauce. It tasted like tomato paste with a little spice. The chicken was also very scarce for the large appearance of the plate that the tomato paste and chicken shavings were served on.
My thoughts were confirmed when we were leaving after we finished. The server was serving another table the Tikka Marsala dish. It appeared how it was supposed to look. The crème and tomato mixed well together with heaping amounts of chicken. Did the kitchen “forget” to make my dish correctly, who knows or was it a one off, perhaps. I wasn’t in the kitchen, so, I can’t say for sure. No, I didn’t complain, it would have been a waste of time.
Finally, after finishing our meals, we decided to get two more drinks. I got the hot cider drink. It tastes just like apple pie. Highly recommend! My husband tried the toasted marshmallow hot chocolate drink with peppermint liquor. He was highly impressed with his choice.
Overall, it’s a new business trying to thrive. There were something’s that weren’t right, yes, but there were other things that they did very well. If their menu ever changes to reflect their website with the cod fish and chips, we will definitely be back! Give them a try, it could be your new fav place.

Everything about Rambler was 5 stars! The ambience is fantastic. It definitely has the feel of a neighborhood hangout. The seating is close, but not uncomfortable (it’s a small space and they make the most of it). The Guinness was an excellent pull which made for a very good start to the evening. The food was really, really good. We had shepherd’s pie and corned beef. They ran out of the toffee pudding dessert so we had the salted caramel cheesecake. Our server was top notch. She was hustling all night but always there when we needed something. We will definitely go back again soon. We made a reservation which I would highly recommend. Because it’s small you’ll take your chances getting a table without one.

I would love this place, but our experience was wicked uncomfortable. My husband and I decided to take our first date in ages and try this place out. I honestly wish we would have stayed in instead. The place was packed, and we sat down at the last two seats at the bar. It looked like lots of regulars. One of the staff ( a female who said she worked in the kitchen usually) loudly asked for our IDs. I had mine but my husband didn’t. With a laugh he offered a picture of our kids instead, or a picture of his old ID. We are both over 30 with three kids so you can imagine our surprise when he got the most intense, loud questioning about every little detail on his license. She finally gave in, as if we were trying to pull the wool over her eyes or something. The couple to the left of me commented on my rings, tattoos and voice to each other and assumed based on these things that I must be a “boy” (obviously not true, and obviously not the restaurants fault, but it added to the uncomfortableness). The bartender HARDLY checked on us. After an awkward meal he offered us dessert. It was so uncomfortable in there I said no thanks. Right as we were about to sign the bill the original lady who sat us came back and made a funny comment “oh you’re not going to stay for a romantic piece of chocolate cake?!” And then proceeded to quiz us on where we were going and how old our kids were like she STILL didn’t believe we have three kids; or maybe she was trying to be personable and knew we were about to be giving her a tip? As we were walking out the door the wait staff loudly hollered at us to come visit again. Too little too late friendly? Or passive aggressive? I’m not sure but I don’t think we’ll be back, which is sad because we are right around the corner, and really wanted this place to be our new favorite spot. Their whisky sour was amazing. The food was great.

10/10 – can’t recommend enough. Local, thoughtful, genuine. Really enjoyed my time at the bar. A woman at the bar next to me booked a reservation for next week while finishing her dinner…
Try the nitro red ale.

What a wonderful place. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious. My husband had the onion soup and it was a good size portion, hot, and was delicious. I enjoyed the fish and chips. It was a big portion of fish with a thin, crispy coating, delicious and not greasy at all. My husband had the shepherd’s pie. And he said it was very good. We both brought food home to enjoy lunch the next day.
