This is one of our favorite places in the city! As such, it is where we decided to celebrate my partner‘s 50th birthday party. We had people from all over the country flying in and rave about the experience. The staff feel like family and the booking process is effortless. It feels more like having dinner with friends than going out to a restaurant. While at the same time, dining with exquisite selections and Drink options. We could not recommend this place anymore!

Absolutely phenomenal dining experience at Kimi’s Chop & Oyster House! From the moment we were seated, the service was outstanding — warm, attentive, and professional. Chef Matt’s culinary presentation was not only visually stunning but incredibly flavorful. Every dish looked like a piece of art and tasted just as impressive — from the fresh oysters to the beautifully plated desserts.

The owner’s presence and hospitality made the experience even more special. It’s rare to find a place where both the food and atmosphere hit perfection, but Kimi’s delivers on all fronts. Can’t wait to return!

Wow! What an experience. This was our first visit and it is now in my top three (3) favorite SLC and PC restaurants. The food was outstanding and the service (Nicolin server) was exceptional. From start to finish the team did not miss a beat. My wife ordered the Sea Bass special and I ordered the Filet. The flavors and presentation were excellent. The deserts – Key Lime and the Maple Croissant are worth ordering. Well done, we will be back.

Made advanced reservations for a group of 12. Kimi emailed me a contract and requested a $50 deposit. We were seated in a large dining room off to the side of the main room which was different than the upstairs private room that I had discussed with Kimi. No big deal it was still nice. Overall our food and service were good but we had three issues that I felt were worth sharing:
1. Automatic 23% gratuity. I could understand 20 bc we’re a large party, but 23 seemed excessive. Gratuity was not mentioned in the contract, nor menu, nor verbally until the checks arrived. Our group usually tips nicely and leaves extra, but not when it was forced. Service was good, especially the water refill guys.
2. Our server explained the sea bass special as coming with Brussel sprouts which excited many of the people at our table to order it. Unfortunately, it came with cauliflower instead and this was not mentioned.
3. The steak tartare was inedible. It came as a spread out mess on the plate topped with lots of cheese and sauce over a bed of greens. It was full of huge slices of onion. I pushed the topping to the side to try to get to the meat but it was so thoroughly mixed and the meat was so small, that I couldn’t separate it. I had to send it back unfortunately. They were gracious and gave me a Caprese salad on the house.

I don’t mind places that cost a lot of money occasionally, but the service was mediocre. The wine tasted old and a bit sour. My chicken was overcooked, dry, and not juicy. My wife ordered salmon and it was overcooked as well. For a $45 plate, it should be cooked to perfection. A lot of people told us how great this place was, so maybe we came on an off night.

When we arrived, we were greeted right away and seated immediately. I recommend making a reservation, as it does get busy. The waiter and staff were attentive, always making sure our drinks stayed full. We had the blue crab cakes and shrimp ceviche—both were excellent. The pork chop was good, though I’m not sure the price is fully justified. I highly recommend trying the gelato

I have always considered Food Service as an art and In that light, Kimi’s is a Rembrandt. Food is one of the few things that touches all our senses and our experience was a masterpiece of sight, smell, taste, sound and touch-as well as the added sense of being welcomed.
We were warmly greeted when we arrived to celebrate my Brother’s birthday. We were escorted to our table where they had placed birthday balloons before our arrival (it is asked in the reservation process if it’s a special occasion) and we were touched by the thoughtfulness.
The restaurant is one of the most beautiful spaces I have dined in. Mel B was our server-knowledgeable, friendly and professional-she added so much to our evening! Kenn, bartender extraordinaire, created the BEST espresso martinis we have ever tasted (with fresh espresso). My one regret is that we did not ask to meet the Chef-the dinner was perfection.
Three of us had filets and my husband had the special, sea bass. The table fell silent-a tribute to the art of the food and the experience.
Kimi came by and introduced herself at the end of our meal-a personal touch that means so much.
I want to thank each of you for a birthday dinner we will never forget-and if you love true art, go to Kimi’s.

For a pre fixe menu at 400.00 a couple, we expected much more. Since a 23% gratuity was also included, our waiter did absolutely nothing to give us good service. He forgot my drink, the crab cakes came out just a few minutes after we sat d poo en and were cold. When the salads came, he made no effort to actually put it in front of me; instead he put my husbands in front of him and mine in between us. He simply needed to walk around the table to place mine. The main entrees were good but for the price, that meant each entree was at least 100.00 for pasta and sea bass. Not worth it. The waiter didn’t ask his anything was and never engaged in any conversation such as how are you or happy Valentine’s Day. We have been in before but never for a special event. The water server and younger guy who actually brought out the entrees were much better than the horrible waiter just standing around looking sloppy with his iPad. This was not a 400 meal and service is better at a fast food restaurant. We bagged everything up and went home. We will not be returning.

Good ambiance, service, and cuisine. Went there for a business dinner and the service was great, the sauce with the filet pictured was very flavorful. Good gluten free options, would recommend.
