Another delicious meal at this lovely restaurant! (Formerly Nunthaporn but they haven’t had a chance to update the sign yet but the address and phone number are the same)
I asked Joe, the head chef, to surprise me with something off the menu (for now) and he came back with this DELICOUS dish:
1. Yum vun sen, a glass noodle salad with shrimp (if you want other protein, I am sure he can accommodate). This is a cold dish, like a salad, quite a favorite amongst Thai folks. The flavor is a mixture of savory/unami, lightly sweet, a little tart and the heat is made to order. This combination is the true foundation of most Thai Yums (salad) and boy, it was YUMMY!! (see what I did there?? lol). We almost licked the plate clean! If you want to try authentic Thai salads/Yums, ask for this item. The flavors is deeply unami and so refreshing!
We also had the following:
2. Seafood with pepper sauce (gluten free): baby scallop, mussels, shrimp, calamari, onion with the pepper sauce. The pepper sauce is made from scratch, gluten free and simmered for 4 hours. It was the best I have had! I was not too proud to not scraped the sauce onto my rice till it was practically clean!
2. Miso soup: flavor is on point!
3. Duck in curry sauce: slices of duck with a bed of diced pineapple, red and green peppers, and mushrooms. The sweet and sour of the veggies and mushrooms really paired well with the curry sauce and the succulent duck.
4. combo chicken and shrimp fried rice and it was delicious as well! It was moist, not greasy and flavors were on point with all the nice veggies
We finished the meal with a mango and coconut ice cream. The Mango is more a shebert and the coconut ice cream was creamy. Out of the two, I loved the coconut ice cream the best! I even asked for an extra scoop cuz I inhaled the first scoop in no time! lol
***As of July 2025: The BEST Thai cuisine in Mesa!!
I heard this place has changed hands with ownership so I decided to check it out. The new owner is a sweet, elegant Lao lady whose smiles are welcoming and kind and the young new chef is vibrant in personality and it shows in his dishes!
Location is right at the heart of downtown on Main street so there is plenty of parking available all around: In front of the store, parking lot in the back and adjacent to Main Street.
The vibes: The place is beautifully decorated with a mix elegance and Thai art prints, artifacts. Fine dining yet casual, fitting for families, couples and corporate gatherings.
The food is PHENOMENAL! The young chef learned from the best and has added his own touches to fusionized a few of his own creation that you will not find at other Thai restaurants: Keaw za (an appetizer with chicken, taro, water chestnut, and lemongrass with a delicious sauce with various spices the chef created) . Their Thai entrees are equally DELICIOUS, esp items that will soon be on the menu (but I was lucky to have tried) and then there are the chef’s signature desserts which are AMAZING:
1) pumpkin coconut sweet soup/pudding. The coconut liquid is buttery, sweet and decadent with pieces of pumpkin that are perfectly cooked.
2) Coconut gelato that’s specially made for this restaurant only.
The flavors are on point, better than most Thai restaurants, very authentic since the owner is Lao and the chef is Lao with Thai cuisine on his belt! My Lao wife who loves Thai food more than Lao food has also confirmed the flavors are delicious. lol
This place did not disappoint and you will leave wanting to come back for more! Come and give them a chance to wow you. You will find their food is not your typical find: It is traditional with a touch of modern fusion to enhance your taste buds. This place will have *many* upcoming items that will be added to the menu and they will blow other Thai restaurants out of the water! They plan to also add sushi and some other Japanese items to make it more interesting so you can have both Thai and Japanese in one place!!
