Tequera Del Sol in Chamblee has some of the most outrageous, unfriendly policies I’ve ever experienced, made even worse by an incredibly rude and aggressive manager.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear this place has a strict “do as you’re told” attitude with zero concern for customer service or basic decency. The first major red flag was witnessing elderly women being yelled at for trying to sit down while the rest of their group waited in line for a table. One of the women had recently had hip surgery and was still forced to stand. Watching that happen was shocking and completely unacceptable.

It didn’t get better. I waited over 10 minutes trying to get the bartender’s attention for a drink. After not being checked on for at least 15 minutes, I was abruptly told that no more orders could be taken after 2:00 PM. It was 2:01 PM. At no point was this policy communicated, and there was no effort to accommodate or even acknowledge the delay caused by their own staff.

If you’re unaware, this place operates under rigid, customer-unfriendly rules with no flexibility, no warmth, and no care for the customer’s happiness or well-being. The manager’s attitude alone is enough to make you never want to return.

The food was cheap and just okay—but absolutely not worth the experience. After seeing firsthand how poorly customers are treated, especially elderly patrons, I would only recommend this place if you are desperate and willing to be treated poorly.

Be aware before you go.

Went there for lunch with a coworker. I usually don’t have an issue at this location but for whatever reason, we were very rushed by the wait staff. They wanted folks to eat and move along so they could keep tables filled.

I was chatting with my friend when and a staff came up behind my table to grab my empty tray. No greeting, no ‘excuse me, are you finished’? Just grabbed my food tray and left. It was really clear that they wanted us to finish quickly and leave.

I won’t be going back to this location. Customer service sucked!

One of my favorite restaurants. Quality food, quality ingredients, I can’t get enough, they are extremely quick and efficient. Fabulous casual atmosphere. Highly recommended.

I’m here to tell y’all, this Taqueria has the best collards in the South. I originally came here a few years ago, bc I was inspired by the cookbook. I met one of the business partners last time in Atlanta . This time, I had to come back to give a review. The tacos are mostly 8.5, only y’all know that cost/protein ratio is a tad higher. But they’re excellent, you could eat 27 of them. But they’re collards man, as a black guy this is where I’m coming to get some for thanksgiving.

No complimentary chips!!!! Fist time I have been at a Mexican restaurant and not had complimentary. Interior is nice but a bit sterile. You order at a counter and food is bought out to you. Food quality is excellent, but a little small. Soft drinks are served by the can do no complimentary refills. Nice bar area and outdoor seating. I had a carnita taco and beef red chili and my wife a brisket taco. Parking seems to be an issue just about all the time. I’m not crazy about tipping when you “counter order”, especially when the offer you percentages.

Modern building, can have long lines. Amazing food! Many of the members of the staff you can see every time you go there. The patio is pretty nice. One of the best Mexican places.

Okay, I admit I’ve put off going to Taqueria del Sol in favor of what I deem more authentic tacos places along south Chamblee-Dunwoody and Buford Highway. While very bourgie, I found the food product high quality and flavorful. The tacos are made with flour tortillas which is common in the north of Mexico like Sonora and Chihuahua. I alway try carnitas as an initial test. Here they were juicy and tender. A bit salty, but tasty. I liked the brisket taco too. These tacos are alway lightly dressed so you can really taste rmeat. The guacamole was made with nice big chunks of avocado and modest amounts of fillers and seasoning. $15 for lunch is reasonable, but most of my other favs charge about $3 a taco and here they are $4. The place is popular and busy at lunch. Don’t let the line put you off, it moves quickly. You order, sit and food is brought to you. Bright, clean with basic deco. Try the “blue plate” its usually a good deal at $11.

I got really lucky with their luch special. The meatloaf looks good but it tasted even better. Which is why I went for a round 2! They need to have it more often!

This was one of my grandfathers favorite restaurants — every time there was something special going on, he wanted Taqueria. The last time we tried to take him, he couldn’t stand on his own for more than a moment. Of course, you must order before being seated, but we assumed exceptions could be made for accessibility. When he tried to sit down near the entrance, we were told he would have to stand (the line was quite long to order). Maybe that’s on us, but seriously, aren’t there laws about that kind of stuff? This happened a while ago, and hopefully things are different now, but still, I think a chair could’ve been spared.

The food is ALWAYS excellent. This is a great spot if you need a quick bite. You have to order first then sit down so if you want to be waited on you have to sit at the bar. Because this is the only place you can get waited on it is always full. This location is good for groups, and there is actually a couple of big tables. They have gluten free designations on the menu. They have a kids menu but no high chairs. I usually order 2 enchiladas which is enough to fill up on. Chips and salsa do not automatically come with the meal, so you would need to order them. They have inside and outside seating.
