Doesn’t exactly deliver service as well as other Paneras, even when there’s only some people there. The smoothies are only about half blended and they never have bread bowls for some reason, and it takes a minute for even just a cup sometimes.
Hard to fault the workers much, seems like all hands are needed in the kitchen. Still a totally fine place, especially considering that it’s coping with double the crowd of an average Panera inside half of one.
Food’s always nice and hot and tastes just like it should.
They let you fill up your water bottle with water and ice at the soda machine too, which is super kind of them 🙂

I normally quietly take a losd, but I’m sick of the dining on this campus. I ordered a chipotle chicken avocado melt and instead left with old hard bread with chicken and a onion. Will be calling to dispute the charge. Absolutely horrible it doesn’t take anything to tell a customer you’re out of ingredients

waited 40 minutes for an order only for them to say they have no idea where it was, no other explanation. my name was on the order status screen the entire time and i went up when it was marked as ready. employees are unhelpful and slow paced. cashiers frequently forget to grab bakery items if they’re ordered.

Great food, but the service could be more welcoming.

It should not take more than thirty minutes to get an order that is not even correct. Also, don’t be surprised to see plenty of people who come after you get their order filled before yours. I do understand that the production order is probably picked by their computer system, but it’s ridiculous that it happens.

I have been ordering from Panera at Johnson Center since 2015 and my experience was better in the past. I wanted to review from their website but I was not able to find the page. Last year when I ordered soup for three different times, they forgot to add croutons/tortilla. I had to check my lunch bag knowing that they usually forget. They provide it later if you ask for it. I think the prices also went up and the portions got smaller. Most recently, I was not happy with the food that ordered two days ago. I ordered yogurt parfait first time this past Wednesday thinking that they make it fresh. It was prepackaged and yogurt did not taste fresh and the top of the bowl was very watery. I asked the cashier to toast chocolate croissant, my second order, she said they do not do it and suggested me to use the dining hall microwaves. The croissant was not fresh. Lastly my third order, the chai tea latte was not hot enough. Although I used to like Panera, I do not think I will order much from JC Panera anymore. There needs to be some improvements.

General manager had an altercation with, she was blonde and was very unwelcoming and rude and I had to come up with a solution. Very disappointed

I do not really write reviews but now I just have to. By far the worst Panera I have ever been to, waited 40min for my order today and every time I order a chipotle chicken avocado melt without peppers, they still add peppers to it. I ordered a grilled cheese and added I ham to it which is another 3 dollars and they just forgot the ham. Absolutely ridiculous! Something needs to change ASAP!

I spent 25 minutes this morning from 9:05 to 9:31 when I was promised A CUP OF COFEE WITH AN ESPRESSO SHOT AND A PIECE OF CAKE. It wasn’t even busy. People who arrived after me got bagels and sandwiches and all sorts of drinks and left. I finally said something about it and the girl looked confused and a tall bald white guy stepped in and found the order. The cake was in front of both of them. The man tosses the cake at me and the cup without the shot of espresso and didn’t even give me the courtesy of putting the cake in a bag with napkins and utensils as does the Panera bread in Kingstowne near my home where I initially signed up for Panera rewards. I asked the girl and she grudgingly obliged and tossed the bag back on the counter with a blank expression. This occurred another time when a white lady barely filled the cup two thirds full for a $7 chai tea latte! I just let it go because I was too busy and would have been late to class.

Positives: the outside is nice to sip coffee eat and study but that’s about it for this Panera location!

So I am updating this review because I went back this morning and the gentleman said he read the review and apologized (and began to justify it but stopped and that is really why I am adding stars) without making any excuses which I respect. He also offered me a free Espresso shot which I declined because I had not paid for it and I am not in the custom of taking things for free. He gave it to me anyway and said sorry. They were out of honey. He said the truck had not delivered. (More on that in a second and why I added a second star).

I was annoyed again at that but thought to myself how stressful it can be to manage this place on such a large campus and how busy it can get (like yesterday when I spent 25 minutes for a coffee and piece of cake!) I just used the cane sugar even though he offered me syrup (not to be rude but I am diabetic and it is honey/cane sugar/regular sugar never artificial sugar or syrups as they are unhealthy for a diabetic and people in general but he was genuinely being nice!) I looked for him behind the counter to say thank you for the Espresso shot and that I understood how busy and how stressful it can be managing this place on campus. She said he was downstairs looking for the truck to arrive and that tells me how hard of a worker he is!

I’ve been going to this Panera Bread location for years, even before I started studying at GMU. I would say that the food quality is pretty standard, but they are so disorganized. I feel like there were a couple of times that I walked out with someone else’s order, and it takes like 10-15 minutes minimum for your name to pop up in the order tracker, so you spend that time panicking if the cashier actually took your order. It takes about 20 minutes to get your order, which is absolutely crazy, considering the food is microwaved. Service has been on and off, with some really nice servers, and others giving me a bit of attitude when I ask about entrees.

If you can find seating, this Panera location is actually pretty nice, as it is a great place for GMU students to study. However, seating is very limited, so on a weekday afternoon, you are unlikely to find a spot here. Maybe try a weekday morning or on a weekend.
