Ichi Sushi is great and our go to spot in Newberg. And it looks like they just had their parking lot resurfaced. The sushi is top notch quality, excellent presentation. Great sake choices with a 3 sake flight option. Some of favorite rolls are the Godzilla, pink lady, and amigo (mildly spicy). Most of us didn’t like the pickled vegetable rolls, or mango rolls (Romeo and Juliet/mango tango), maybe because they were cold, or the sauce. I don’t know. Probably just preference since it still looks beautifully presented.

The food was good. I had a couple rolls and my husband had the teriyaki chicken. The sake was served cold, I would have liked it warm but it was still good. The roofs were well made, nothing special but tasted fresh. My husband loved his teriyaki. It was served sizzling on a fajita platter which was pretty cool. Quality tender meat. The service was lacking. Our initial waitress was meek and a bit slow. The appetizer was served with the rolls and the teriyaki took another 10 minutes to come. After the second waitress brought the rest of the order we never saw her again….she went to fold napkins and didn’t refill tea or ask if we needed anything. They need a good strong experienced lead server to train everyone. The product is great, just need a tighter serving staff. We will be back!

I love, love, love Ichi Sushi and had been checking all of the time for their reopening. I live a few blocks away and there is a large “For Lease” sign in front of the building now. It appears they are not reopening. I am super bummed.

I’ve been there twice now and both times the sushi was phenomenal. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is very simplistic and peaceful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only negative thing I experienced is that when I took my first piece of Oregon sushi it was still hot (it’s deep fried before being served) and I ended up slightly burning my tongue. I’m sure that if I had exercised caution and waited a minute or so before trying that one I would have been fine because it was still delicious. Personally I don’t have anything negative to say about this place.

I’ve been coming to Ichi for well over a year now, and they are my favorite sushi place in town! The owners are so sweet and they are great with customer service. I always get the crunchy roll, crab salad, and California rolls. It’s sooo delicious! I can’t go a week without it. If you need a new sushi place and want to support a great business, try this place out. 🙂

Hands down the best sushi in Newberg. The quality of their fish is much higher than other places and your portions are a bit larger too. They have the best combinations and best tasting sushi I’ve ever had. I’ve been craving them since they’ve been temporarily close. I hope that all is well and that they can open up soon. We have eaten at Ichi many times since they opened. The first few times were great. Friendly service and decent sushi. The past few times have been the opposite. Average wait times for sushi for two was over an hour in a half-filled restaurant. During this time, we saw many patrons come and go and call-in orders were clearly taking priority over dine-in customers. The service staff are polite, but make many errors. One visit we were served salmon sashimi that was foul and not edible (they replaced it). We will not return until the service has improved. After reading through the reviews, it seems as though I am not alone in these experiences.

The atmosphere was fantastic! They did a great job remodeling the restaurant. Frankly, I was disappointed in the service. It was slow, but I also understand they’ve only been open for less than two weeks. Also, it took forever to order and forever to get our drinks. However; I still understand their new and will only get better in time. The sushi was actually really good but the Miso soup was terrible I am the tempura was terrible. I feel the pricing is way too high. The pricing for lunch makes more sense. I hope they are very successful because I could tell they were overwhelmed and I love Japanese food and I love that their local! I gave them only three stars because I feel really overall everything was just good…not excellent. Time will tell.
