– Hot plates section: The standout dish was easily the black cod – milky, tender, distinctly flavourful.
– Sushi section: Overall quality was good though nothing really stood out.
– Dessert section: The best part of the buffet. The matcha based desserts were excellent, the coffee panna cotta was outstanding, and the gelato soft serve was a delight to everyone.
The place is beautiful. But given Nobu’s reputation and the price they charged, was expecting just a bit more.
The atmosphere is warm, sophisticated and inviting. The hospitality was truly second to none, as my girlfriend and I were greeted with smiles and enthusiasm from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Our server Cory was kind and attentive. He made great recommendations and was very knowledgeable on the menu.
Jess accommodated us as well, seating us and checking in intermittently to see how our dining experience was going. Her professionalism and consideration toward guests is apparent. I can tell she is a strong leader who sets a positive tone and high standard.
I give high praise to the chefs at Nobu. Every dish was prepared to perfection and the presentation was immaculate.
Noteworthy compliments to the bartenders as well.. that was probably the best old fashioned I’ve ever had.
I can see why the Nobu brand is world renowned and held in the highest regard. It exemplifies precisely what hospitality is about.
The food, however, was more mixed. It wasn’t bad, but having visited other Nobu locations, I felt the quality and creativity fell a bit short. Some dishes felt predictable and even a little dated for a restaurant of this caliber and price point. The yellowtail sashimi was enjoyable, but it’s a fairly standard Japanese/Peruvian dish that can be found at many other restaurants. The miso black cod had the familiar Nobu flavor, but a part of it was slimy. The house maki was fine, and the cauliflower jalapeño fell flat.
The sorbet flavors sounded intriguing (lychee-based and coconut-based combinations) but the taste was off, and we ended up finishing them out of obligation.
Overall, I think Nobu is worth trying out for a special occasion or if you’re drawn to the atmosphere and name. That said, I left wishing the food would evolve somehow, either in quality or creativity, to better match the stunning setting and premium pricing.
My recommendation is to skip the plain sashimi and sushi, only order the sashimi apps that comes with sauces and you really can’t go wrong with any of the cooked main courses.
We can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!
The food is outstanding. The fish tastes incredibly fresh and full of flavor, cooked with precision and care. The meat dishes are perfectly cooked, tender, and deeply satisfying.
A truly memorable experience from start to finish.
We opted in to try one of each: The Classic Omakase and The Festive Omakase, and we got to try a bit of everything! We did request for no added salt, though some dishes still turned out quite salty (both appetizers, salads, and the beef yakitori). On the other hand, the lobster, the cod fish and the wagyu were amazing!
Nonetheless, it was still an enjoyable experience. I absolutely loved the Whiskey Cappuccino dessert at the end, presented in a cute Cappuccino cup with “Happy Birthday” written ^^ It was beyond delicious, and I’d 100% order it again 🙂
Table was ready at reserved time. Atmosphere very pleasant as the restaurant was full but did did not feel crowded. Buffet options not as plentiful as you would hope for $110 ++ per person. No beverages included, just tap water. No coffee or tea included.
Sushi buffet again nice but options very basic. Strip-loin and Brussels sprouts very good
Dessert buffet plentiful but overall taste just ok, not exceptional.
Service very pleasant and efficient. Empty plates got cleared quickly and quietly.
Bill was wrong when presented. Was charged for 5 people when only 3 dined. Error corrected, but still avoidable
Would I return – yes, prices are just high everywhere and ambiance, atmosphere and service were a big plus
The atmosphere is refined yet inviting, with a vibrant energy that elevates the whole evening. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and guided us through the menu beautifully.
Whether you’re celebrating something special or simply want an outstanding meal, Nobu Toronto exceeds expectations on every level. Absolutely deserving of five stars. Highly recommend.
