I debated on posting this review, as I have been coming to this Giovanni’s location for almost 15 years. We moved away 8 years ago & every time we come back home to visit, we come to this Giovanni’s. Needless to say we are diehard Giovanni’s lovers who just wanted a taste of home. Unfortunately the most recent experience has put a bad taste in our mouths & we are having to consider going to a different location. Last night, we got to our hotel room & tried to call an order in. When we called it directed us to use their app, so we gladly made an account to do so. We placed an order at 8:57pm, under the impression that they closed at 10pm (according to Google). I showed up to pick up our order at 9:07pm, and the employees were leaving for the night & the store was closed. They told me to call back today to have them make our order or get a refund. So after driving all day, not only did we waste our time ordering and trying to pick up our food, but we also had to go elsewhere, where we ended up getting hair in our food, so the night was just not going well at all. Flash forward to today, we tried to call them to talk to them and it kept giving a busy signal, so my husband went up to the store. They told him to come back when we were ready to have our order made and they would make it. So we went by again this evening, got our order, came to the hotel room, only to find that the crust of our pizza was SEE THROUGH. We’re very aware that this is New York style pizza, & we know what the crust is normally supposed to be like, & it was wayyyyy too thin. Of course by the time we realized this, it was past 9, and the store is closed again. So for yet a second night in a row, we were left disappointed.
I don’t blame the employees themselves for the store being closed when Google said it was supposed to be open, I’m sure there’s a logical reason for it not to be updated, & while it is aggravating, I would never fault them for that. Both my husband and I were General Managers at Papa John’s for years, and he said when he went in to get the food he noticed they now use a dough press. I’m not totally sure if this was always the case or not, but if it’s new, I’d like to be the first to say that the quality of the pizza has definitely gone downhill, & if this is a company wide addition, I guess we will just have to live with the memory of what our hometown pizza used to be and find somewhere else.

Place looks nice. Love the black and white photos on the walls. Was nee there and didnt know where to order asked the lady at the cash register she said there. When to order and she ignored us take someone to check out. The pizza was the only food we liked and it needed to be cooked more. Took it home and cooked longer and then it was better. The guy who looked like manager or owner was nice saying hi and the women cooking were nice. Would I go bak. No sorry. The sub tasted and smelled funny. I wanted the sub special heard my husband say that and they ignored him ringing up everything as different items. So spent over $50.00 when I didnt need to and not worth the cost. Unless they change I would say not worth going too.

I’m glad I tried this place..
The very first slice I tried took me back in time to the old school pizza joints from New York…… Wow I was stunned I couldn’t believe it , how just one bite brought back those memories of my child hood years….
Great pizza doesn’t even being to do it justice…. Had fried mushrooms they were average (good)…. But the cheesecake I got for dessert was AWESOME!!!! I live over in Somerset Kentucky a 2 hr drive from Hazard but I will have to bring the family down here sometime to try the experience for them selves…

They got our order wrong almost on both sandwiches. They put lettuce on a pizza sandwich. On the sausage They didn’t put any sausage at all that you could eat. They turned a sausage sandwich into a pizza one by putting black olives, tomatoes, and pepperoni on it which we had to take off. They didn’t put any onions which was asked for, And the customer service acted as if they could not hear us.

We stopped here for a short break and took advantage of the lunch special. Personal pizza for a little over $6. It was good. We talked to Butch and Andrea, they were really nice. They have a comfortable seating area. They have other options besides pizza.

Bought the 10.95 lunch special and it was mediocre,went to pay and the guy tried to charge me 22$ so we had to discuss that heatedly. Bought an order of mushrooms for 6.99 and I got 5 mushrooms. That’s way over priced for some frozen mushrooms that’s over 1.25 each lol ridiculous.
