We had a fantastic Valentine’s Day meal at Mug Shot Restaurant this afternoon. From start to finish, everything was amazing. The staff were so welcoming and attentive, which made it feel extra special.

We had the steak on the hot stone and loved cooking it ourselves at the table — such a great experience and the steak was full of flavour and perfectly presented.

A really lovely atmosphere and a perfect way to celebrate. We’ll definitely be back! ⭐

Me and my boyfriend went for our anniversary loved the atmosphere and decor. the staff seemed friendly. Food was really fast, ant was lovely and helpful about our meal the other server seemed very confused about what he was serving he also didn’t seem interested in helping us. A little disappointing but worth a visit

Coeliac Review…

Visited for lunch. Decor and setting are nice.

Staff were friendly and helpful (although as we entered someone came in behind us shouting ‘they don’t pay their staff!’ which caused a bit of an atmosphere).

Items containing gluten are marked on the menu. I informed the waiter about being Coeliac and didn’t get the most confident response to be honest. I was told there WOULD be cross contamination in the kitchen as they make their own flatbreads and if I was ok with that (obviously not if it was a guaranteed cross contamination).

I clarified further – the head chef would be made aware of my order and surfaces my food would be prepped on would be cleaned down. The waiter did check if chips were cooked in a gluten free fryer – which they are.

I went for the Ribeye, Skin on Chips, Garlic butter & Honey butter and Peppercorn sauce. Overall it was ok. I found the chips were ‘greasy’ and disappointing. Not much flavour to the steak. Peppercorn sauce was very nice.

I had no ‘Coeliac’ reaction after the meal (always a win) but just felt slightly uncomfortable during my visit. Our waiter was very nice and accommodating but didn’t seem that confident dealing with a Coeliac.

I would just advise anyone with dietary requirements to be cautious if visiting and ask plenty of questions.

Pasture is still top of my list for steak.

10/10 EVERYTHING CHECKS OUT!!! Are you looking for amazing food, excellent service, unique experience, and romantic vibe in Cardiff? Mugshot is the best! Many thanks to the team and special thanks to our waitress, Molly. She was the host and waitress at that time and everything was perfect. Ask her and listen to her recommendations. She knows the menu very well and if you voice out your preferences, you’ll get what you’ve asked for. We ordered the tiger prawns, porterhouse steak, and eton mess. It was lovely and will go back again if we come back to Cardiff.

We visited this restaurant on 12th July for my son’s 21st. We arrived earlier than expected and went in to see if our table was ready, we were welcomed by Joe the manager who explained our table wasn’t ready ( it was very busy in Cardiff as stereophonics concert was on) but if we’d like to sit in the bar he’d call us. As soon as we walked in the atmosphere was lovely, warm, welcoming & friendly. We had 2 rounds of drinks at the bar & then our table was ready. The service was absolutely fantastic. The food served was absolutely outstanding, they did forget about our side of mushrooms but after asking brought them out & they were definitely worth the wait, Joe brought over a drink with a note clipped onto it saying sorry about the mushrooms which was a lovely touch. Joe is an absolute credit to you Thank you for helping us have a wonderful night, can’t wait to come back.

Highly recommend this place. The quality is superb, Mattie our server, was great. I asked about flavours for 3 different butters and he didn’t miss a beat describe each to give me a great idea of what each one would taste like.

We had never been to a restaurant where we had to cook our own steak, and his breakdown of what we needed to do was superb, very detailed and made it sound simple.

I was quite sceptical about paying to cook my own steak but was surprised as to how easy it was, and was impressed with the atmosphere and ambience as well as the novelty of the place.

We ordered the fillet steak with tiger prawns as well as the flat iron steak, plus 3 pints each was £115. Not a bad price considering the quality and service we received.

Would highly recommend to anyone who loves steak and fancies something a bit different.

Well, what a fabulous and unexpected experience. We’re from the Swansea area and while passing by, popped in only to find they weren’t open for business, but the lovely owner, Adam, warmly welcomed us in. He served us himself, put music on and then talked with us for an hour. Mugshot are an independent company, with great ethics looking to maximise the customer experience. We’re looking forward so much to coming back with local friends to sample their steaks. Three thumbs up from us.

We had a dinner at Mugshot Restaurants Cardiff last Sunday. It was a nicely decorated restaurant with good vibe. We ordered Pork Belly Bites, one Flat Iron and one Sirloin. The staff taught us how to cook the beef with the hot stones. The foods was great.

For suggestions, I would suggest Mugshot to re-design the booth seatings if there is a chance, because when I was sitting there, I felt that the height of the seat was a little bit higher than normal standard, and my tummy was too close to the edge of the table, making me not feeling very comfortable. In addition, it would be great if the staff could speed up the payment process.

Anyway, it’s nice having a dinner at Mugshot Restaurants Cardiff.

We liked the food, and friendly staff. Cooking your own steak is a bit of a gimmick rather than anything else. We were sat upstairs which was a bit empty and the place lacked atmosphere. Glad we have visited but probably will not go back.
