KSPROSTY
Place was empty when I arrived on a Wednesday at 7pm. Ordered 1lb pork spare ribs, corn on the cob and fried okra…
The rub on their ribs is slightly sweet and the ribs had a smoky flavor. They were served lukewarm. The corn was half a cob and soggy. I was not asked if I wanted butter and there was none at the condiments bar. The fried okra was from frozen but freshly fried and salted nicely…by far the best part of my meal.
Duke City BBQ has two choices of BBQ sauce, spicy and classic. The spicy sauce was surprisingly good, but not too spicy at all. The classic sauce was just OK, perhaps a little bit sweet.
Overpriced, lacking in quality compared to price.
-1lb pork spare ribs
– 1/2 corn on the cob
-side of fried okra
-fountain soft drink

First time here, glad I stopped in. Man at the counter recommended Brisket, I got moist. Tender, smoky, juicy but not too fatty and amazing crust… A+! Cream corn is thick and tasty. Although I’m a Rudy’s fan, I love finding a local place that does it even better.
It’s lunchtime on a Monday and the place is mostly empty. Come on folks, support a good local business!

Barbecue here is fantastic! It is now my go to barbecue restaurant. The portion sizes are generous, prices are fair, and the food is always good and consistent from visit to visit. Service is friendly and quick. I recommend takeout and going down to boxing bear for a beer with your barbecue. It has the making for a great evening!

Brisket was smoked and juicy with a nice flavorful bark. The jalapeño torpedo with pulled pork was was top notch. Chicken was just okay. Lacked seasoning and smoke flavor. Maybe cooked too hot and smoke didn’t penetrate? Still tasty with BBQ sauce and in a chicken salad the next day.
Creamed corn and potato salad were both really good and classic BBQ. The beans were a little too sweet for my taste, I prefer the ranch bean flavor over baked bean brown sugar flavor.
BBQ sauce itself was also too sweet but still tasty. Again, I’d prefer less sweetness but not bad.
For the price and location next to Boxing bear 4.5/5.

May have been just the location (candelaria and tramway) but after hearing about this place on facebook i decided to give it a try and it was good but not great. I got the brisket, wife got the baked potato loaded with brisket. We also had a jalapeño torpedo, the baked beans, the jalapeño cheddar sausage and regular sausage fries and okra. The brisket was dry but upon seeing other reviews i am aware now that i could have ordered it moist (idk). The sausage tasted old and sweet definitely wouldn’t try that again it wasnt bad just not my taste. Fries and okra were ok and the beans were pretty good the jalapeno torpedo was pretty awesome. Overall i paid 91 with tip. Think ill stick to Rudy’s but thats my preference.

The aroma of smoked meat greeted me as the door opened. There was no wait to place our order. The sandwiches had generous portions and the sides were excellent. The jalapeno torpedoes were awesome! They practically melted in my mouth. We will most definitely return.

Brisket is absolutely amazing!! Fries are super crispy and seasoned just right. We took our brisket and an order of fries over to Boxing Bear so I can only comment on the to-go atmosphere. Our order came out very fast.

What a fantastic find! The owner, Mike, was so welcoming and took the time to explain the whole setup, which made for a super smooth and enjoyable experience. The food was absolutely delicious, but the jalapeño torpedos were on another level! We’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!
