This restaurant started out as a pretty popular place back in the 80’s and 90’s, but fast forward to a couple of years ago it sadly was run down and closed until December 2025 when it reopened! We just decided to give it a try! The decor was clean and fresh with a stylish ski vibe! Big square bar to welcome both visitors and locals! Our waiter was a rockstar and covered the whole restaurant although to be fair it’s a Tuesday- very busy tonight so still a rock star! The food was amazing and for sure this will be one of our new North Conway favorites! To be honest the Scarecrow was not my favorites years ago, but it is now!

I hadn’t been to Scarecrow since I was a kid and the new owners have outdone themselves! The renovations are beautiful and the food was delicious. Our waitress was also incredibly kind. Don’t skip this on your next trip!

Huge side salad, basically a main salad size! The french onion soup was delicious too. The chili was good as well and the mac and cheese was very cheesy with tasty breadcrumbs. They’ve fixed it up very nicely inside. Lots of TVs for viewing at the bar while also having a nicer vibe without TVs in the separate dining areas.

New restaurant #46*.
So, I don’t want to give a bad review but I have to be honest. I was excited to revisit the Scarecrow TAVERN since they just reopened maybe a week ago. I used to dine here with my family back in the 90s when we vaca’d to North Conway and fondly remember their Poutine dish. However, tonight’s visit was just so so. While I was able to grab a seat at the bar right away, I did have to wait a long, hot minute for a beverage. That said, there WAS only one bartender holding it down for the whole restaurant. But then It also took a while to be able to place AND receive my food order, a Tavern Burger medium-well with fries. The burger came out super medium pink and room temp but still tasted fine, but was served on a cold, untoasted brioche-like bun. Not ideal. The fries were honestly the best part of the meal. Also got some sweet bourbon chicken tenders and a cheesecake with blueberry compote to-go. We’ll see how they are tomorrow. Overall, not a solid first impression but I will be back to try something new at some point in the future. Maybe next time will be a better experience. Looking forward to trying the Brisket Poutine and maybe another shareable appetizer.

The reopening (rebranding?) of The Scarecrow Tavern has been highly anticipated for people who used to frequent its first incarnation as The Scarecrow Pub and Grill.
The remodeling is beautiful and everything is clean and well organized. The staff are friendly, we recommend Jimmy, and very much there to make your experience a pleasurable one.
The food and drinks were top shelf, and we will be back!!

Great to see the new Scarecrow open! Always liked the old Scarecrow. The renovation is absolutely beautiful. Ate at bar area for first visit and the dining room for the second visit. Both areas comfortable and attractive with all the natural wood. With respect to food, I have to be honest. Sandwiches were excellent and large. Dinners fair at best. First time I ordered Pasta Primavera and it was not good. While a good size portion with alot of fresh vegetables, the penne pasta was so overcooked it was mushy and most of it broken into pieces. The entire dish was not even hot, just lukewarm at best. Second time in with party of four and one person had a sandwich which was very good and the rest of us had dinners which tasted good, but once again all were not hot, just luke warm. I sent mine back to be reheated as mine was more like room temperature. Seems there is a problem getting dinners to table so they are still hot. Hopefully, they will get this issue resolved. Will give it another try as I want to see them succeed but will stick to sandwiches or apps next time

We ended up at Scarecrow for my birthday! I hadn’t been here when it was previously open so I can’t compare, but my husband had as a child. While the poutine wasn’t the same to him, it was unique in a good way. The pretzel was warm, soft, and salty! The chili was spicy for me but it was up my husband’s alley. The best parts were the chicken tenders and the grilled cheese with short rib! We will visit again in the future (we do not live close by) and keep trying the menu! Despite never being there before, I shared in my husband’s joy and nostalgia which made for a great time. They had a good variety for different dietary needs given their menu isn’t very large. If you are in the area and want to relive the memories or just eat somewhere different, I would recommend it!

We were excited to go there and check out the new Scare Crow. The host was very friendly and our waitress was great too! The atmosphere was nice and we appreciated the decor. You can tell there was a lot of attention to detail. We ordered a salad that we shared that was fresh and large. Very nice for two people. We ordered the chili and unfortunately this is where we were disappointed. It came out in a big bowl. It was more of a chili soup, lots of liquid, no substance. I felt like they were running out and were trying to make it last. Not really sure but we had to order dessert because we were still hungry. We will be back again to give them another shot. Also, the cocktails were large and satisfying!

We’ve been up this way a lot of times, but this was our first visit to the Scarecrow since the renovations, so we can’t compare it to the old version.

It wasn’t busy, which was actually nice. Our waiter was new, he was clearly trying hard, and genuinely pleasant. The service was good, so no issues there.

We ordered the Philly egg rolls and the mac and cheese with pulled pork. Both dishes were fine. Not bad, but not memorable. The food was good overall, but the menu didn’t feel especially exciting or creative.

The vibe felt more like a local townie hangout than a place you go out of your way to visit. There’s nothing wrong with that, just not what we’re usually looking for when dining out.

Our experience wasn’t bad by any means, but it didn’t give us a reason to come back.
