Group of 9 for a birthday dinner. Was a nice experience. Food overall was very delicious, the basil lemon salad was out of this world, the French onion soup was nice and flavorful, guests raved about the lamb and the searing on the steak. The mussels were a miss, can’t compete to having tried them fresh in Europe they should replace these with something more available local, I would say skip ordering the mussels even if the photo is mouthwatering, they were eh…. Overall Would recommend. Wish they would had reached out to me for the reservation as I noted this in reservation however all went well.

We were passing through Whitewater and needed dinner so I searched on the internet for nearby restaurants. I saw that the Kraut Haus was a house on farm transformed into a restaurant and we decided to take a chance, boy were we glad we did.
It’s a little confusing where to go once you arrive since there are numerous buildings but go to the white house on the right. It’s such a quaint and welcoming environment inside we were immediately impressed. They had just opened so we had the dinner room to ourselves, our server I believe his name was Robby was a great host, he was very informative and told us all about the restaurant and food.
We started with the Caesar Salad it was good, slightly difference then other Caesar salads I ‘ve had because the croutons were soft and chewy.
Next up was soup, I had the baked French Onion and my dining partner had the asparagus soup. I can honestly say it was the best French Onion soup I’ve ever had. My dining partner loved the asparagus soup and had to stop herself from eating it all because we had ordered more selections she wanted to save room for.
We also tried the sun dried tomato risotto, it was excellent. I have had many risottos dishes and this was spot on. Perfect flavor and the texture of the rice was just right, I couldn’t have been happier.
The grand finale was the Braised Pork Shank served with mashed potatoes, asparagus and a rich brown sauce. I am not a good enough writer to properly explain how incredible this dish was. The sauce complimented the pork perfectly and the potatoes just soaked it up to add even more flavor. The pork itself just fell off the bone, this was a great meal.
The prices were very fair, I had recently had a meal where the entrees were nearly double the price and could not compete with the wonderful meal we had at the Kraut Haus. If you are near Whitewater you must stop here, you will not be disappointed.

My wife and I have visited several times. The food is absolutely amazing. There is no way to get food of this quality unless you go to Milwaukee or Chicago. The mussels, the steak, the French onion soup, the mushroom turnover and on and on and on. Everything fresh and great service too. We are so lucky to have this place in Whitewater.

We had a fabulous time for our first dining experience at The Kraus Haus! The staff was friendly, the service was top-notch and the food delicious, and the environment was quaint but welcoming for our young kids. We will definitely be back.

This place is a hidden gem. Doesn’t look like it from the road, but come in into an amazing dining experience. Robby, our waiter, was so genuine and friendly. The food was decadent. The atmosphere was perfect. I highly recommend this place.
