I’ve been driving past this place since it opened, and today was finally the day I got to try it. The food made here is a true expression of love, hard work, and dedication. I will definitely be back often. Fa‘afetai tele, Safune, for blessing our bodies with this goodness. Tofa lava.

If you’re on the Big Island and craving real local Polynesian food, this is the spot! Super welcoming vibe and the food hits the spot—nothing fancy, just really tasty and comforting. It’s also self-serve, so you can grab as much (or as little) as you want. We got fresh cooked corned beef, lamb curry, coconut cream taro (and a few other dishes I can’t even name, but all definitely worth trying). Such a nice break from the typical touristy restaurants. Highly recommend!

Got a few sides and a loaded plate to share and it was a great, reasonable price. Their customer service is also very good and let us try food before buying it. The whole meal was delicious and even after sharing it, still had a lot left, so it was our dinner too. I’ll definitely be going back to try the rest of the foods that they have.

The food is pay by the pound, self serve, and they give you to go containers so you don’t have to stay there, but they do have family style seating. The food is the absolute BEST food I have had on the island. The meat is seasoned through to the bone! The Taro with coconut milk and onions is so comforting. The owner was out there talking to us and getting to know us. Nicest guy and funny too! I will be stopping here again and again. Highly recommend!

Absolutely delightful experience. The owner was so warm and welcoming. He really made the experience. The food was the best comfort food I’ve had on Kona so far. Hearty, rich and full of reminders of good home cooking. The turkey tail was my favorite of the options. The pricing was awesome for what you get. Skip the resort and tourist trap restaurants – this place is a hole-in-the-wall gem!

Very friendly service! I love family-owned businesses.
The food was good, you choose your portions and this is by the pound.
I had the corned beef and cabbage, talo (taro in coconut milk and onions), and lamb ribs. I am not a “lamb” person, so I found the lamb a bit gamy. Corned beef was very tender, a little bit too salty for me. Overall, good value.

Food is sold by the pound and you make your own plate. Amazing stuff. Best ulu I’ve ever eaten. My husband and I got a plate with two different kinds of palusami, corned beef, ulu with coconut milk, lamb ribs, and lamb curry for $33. We got a couple free panikeke too. It was more than we could eat in one sitting so we had it for dinner as well. I woke up today feeling more energized than I have in a while!

We went with grandparents and kids and loved out food. We would go back to try it again.
Its definitly a pop up shop, but the family that makes the food is deserving the money, because it is good and unique.
The rice unfortunalty was barely warm and stuck together, so they should fix that. You pay by the pound, so you dont want to get much white rice anyways.
Like I said, it was about the food, and will definitly go back.

We were in the area visiting friends in Pāhoa from Oregon and Arizona. Seen the add for Samoan food on IG for this place and gave it a try today. Food was delicious and was greatful to meet the family and talk stories. Will definitely be back on our next adventure to Hawaii/Big Island.
