Social Profile:

Mijo, a coastal Mexican-influenced restaurant, is stunning, succulent and even secretive. With a menu of bold and vibrant flavors, Mijo brings a refined South of the Border flair to Las Vegas with prime meats and fresh whole fish prepared from a wood-burning grill, made from scratch tortillas, to-die-for ceviches and shareable appetizers. A restaurant that transfixes all the senses, guests enter Mijo through a brick terracotta and lush green and gold garden. As the sounds from a live DJ saturate the scene, the corridor opens up to multiple rooms, all with a different look and feel.

Always seen this place inside of Durango Casino so I decided to give it a try. The best way to describe this place is a fancy, dimly lit Mexican restaurant that serves your favorites like tacos, tostadas and even grilled meats.

This experience/review is based off of us going with the server’s recommendation. Having never been there I feel like my trust was with the server’s recommendation, but looking back on it I’m pretty sure they were just recommending higher ticketed items.

Of everything that we tried, the only thing I’d recommend is the sea bass ceviche, octopus and the street corn. I feel like with most restaurants I’ve been to, octopus is always something that is pretty good. The street corn and ceviche I feel are just standard except you’re paying more. Next time I’ll have to try the other tacos, which I assume would be really good.

The seating is pretty intimate other than the music playing loudly around you. Ironically, it kind of secludes you and your party in interesting way as the lighting focuses on your table and you have to get closer to hear each other talk.

Overall, I would give this place another chance but mainly choose items that I’d like, or even some of the more basic items. This place is really nice and eventually I’d like to check out their speak easy.

We stopped here for breakfast. The atmosphere was great. We did outdoor sitting as it was a beautiful sunny day out. They have large tables for large groups. Chips and dip was serve right away. The sala was amazing!! The menu description for every dish were well explained. The food was great. The staff members were great and super helpful. We ordered a few dishes and i must say the lobster tacos are a must!! Portion of their food was generous and shareable. They have a unique cocktail menu and a small non-alcoholic section for drinks. Dessert was delicious as well.

Got to my reservation a few minutes early and was able to be seated right away.
The hostess was very lovely and friendly.
Our waitress was amazing, she recommended the carne Asada, which was a 10/10. (That spicy salsa is also worths mention)
It did take a bit for our drinks to come out, but we did have water the whole time.
For dessert we had the flan which comes with a skull on top. Such a cool added detail.
I’d recommend coming here for a girls night, birthday dinner, or a date night like me!

I will admit I was not to sure about this one but a friend of a friend recommended it and it was almost perfect. It was definitely more modern Mexican which apparently I am into. I thought it had a very cool setting very relaxing kind of day of the dead type theme going which was different for sure but cool all the same. The chips, salsa and guacamole were wonderful little kick off the salsa had a perfect amount of heat and that guacamole was just so creamy so flavorful one of the best I’ve ever had. For appetizers we started out with the charred octopus, which was so unbelievably tender. You didn’t even need a knife to cut it yet the ends of the tentacles were perfectly crisp. The chorizo and potatoes underneath added an unbelievable flavor and I’m not sure what the side sauces were but they were the complete composed bite. We also got the chicken empanadas which were extremely crispy well seasoned And had an amazing chipotle, mayo, dipping sauce it was just the right amount of heat and sweet. Then we got the shrimp and scallop dish that was flaming. It was a very cool presentation. The shrimp and scallops were cooked perfectly not soft not rubbery. They had a perfect little snap to them. For our last appetizer we got the tuna tostada Which had amazing texture with the very thin, almost rice, puff on the bottom with the very smooth tuna on top it was wonderful. For entrées, we got the sizzling fajita platter with Carne Asada steak and blackened grilled shrimp, Perfectly cooked perfectly seasoned the Carne Asada just melted in your mouth. The shrimp had a perfect snap texture to it. All the veggies were on point still had a little tiny snap to them. The tortillas were nice and warm. The chicken mole I’ve had it at some places where they try too hard with the chocolate to make it the star. This was such a wonderful dish. I’m actually upset that I didn’t get it for myself. Excellent amount of flavor. Cinnamon was coming through beautifully. It was perfectly cooked and it made me want to get one to go. Here is the only thing that I had a problem with really the street corn It was just OK nothing spectacular which surprised me. For desserts, we got the flaming skull flan, which was set on fire table side was very cool presentation. The chocolate was absolutely amazing and the flan was perfect texture so creamy perfectly set just melted it in your mouth. The coconut cream with berries was very similar to whipped cream, but had obviously a coconut flavor. It was amazingly well set delicious creamy and just an absolute pleasure to have. Mexican Twinkie Trio It was poundcake marshmallow with a chocolate crust. It was probably the star of the show on the desert end. It was so good we all wanted to get another order. Perfect snap on the outside absolutely soft and gooey on the inside. What more can you ask for it wasn’t dry and it wasn’t rubbery marshmallow it just checked all the boxes for all four of us. WELL DONE MIJO MODERN MEXICAN WELL DONE.

First time here and never again the hostess extremely rude all of them 3 young girls with black dresses I had a reservation I arrived ten minutes before my reservation and they make me wait for 20 minutes more to give me a table and when finally they gave me a table it was more than 10 tables available.
And when I arrived they didn’t try to stop their conversation to receive the customers.
Good thing the my server she was really helpful and friendly enough i went there to celebrate my birthday but it wasn’t what I was expecting from this place.
Food was ok nothing to impress so I don’t think I would recommend or comeback

Food was good. Everyone at the table enjoyed everything that was brought out. The issue was the extreme wait times and service. You will wait extremely long even if you are in a very small group. The Wax Rabbit Speakeasy was pretty cool and quiet when waiting for your table to be ready. I would give this place a 3.5/5

Nice upscale Mexican restaurant. We just stopped for some apps and drinks. Tried the octopus app it was ok. Margarita flight was great! The blackberry and mango stood out. The smoked oacacan old fashioned was delicious but at $42 a bit pricey, but it comes with an excellent presentation!

We came for Happy Hour. The salsa was amazing. The street corn was really good. The guacamole was so so. The tortillas for the fajitas were dry. Amir was our server. He was friendly and tentative. The drinks were okay. Nothing to brag about. The atmosphere was pleasant. The music was nice and not too loud. The hostess was also very pleasant. I might come back to try the other items on the happy hour menu or checkout the speakeasy lounge when it’s open to the general public.

Justin, our server was on point all throughout the meal and was attentive without being annoying. He honored our special request and even added soda to my sangria when I didn’t care for the level of sweetness. He understood we had two tired and antsy kids with us and was patient and gracious. The food was good, the cocktails were great and the atmosphere was relaxing. The only complaint I have is that the table kept rocking back and forth which is annoying and with kids made me nervous. Which was why I didn’t give them 5 stars. They really need to stabilize their tables better. We checked the other table and it was the same. We folded a napkin under the leg to try and stabilize it. Over all though it was a nice evening out and a great experience.

Mijo is a nice take on mexican cuisine with the upscale look and prices to go with. We did enjoy all our dishes. The guacamole was some of the best I’ve had. The wait staff are very friendly. Something I noticed about dining here was that every booth feels intimate. Like it’s just you there with your significant other. The hidden bar was pretty cool.
