The char siu is the standout — thick, tender slices, several pieces in every ramen bowl, and they finish it with a quick blowtorch so you get that nice charred flavor on the edges. Very good.
We tried all four inari: crab, bulgogi, char siu, and tofu. Each one was generously filled and tasty. The cold soba with green onion, garlic, nori, onsen egg, and char siu was also a nice combo — refreshing and flavorful.
The katsu don (pork cutlet rice bowl) comes in a huge portion. The cutlet was crispy outside, juicy inside, and the house sauce was well balanced. Honestly, one order could easily feed two people if you’re not super hungry.
Portions are genuinely big — four of us ordered multiple dishes and still had food to take home. Prices feel fair given how much you get.
If you’re in the Arcadia area and want hearty Japanese food with good value, this place is worth checking out.
Would come back for the char siu ramen and the katsu don.
Recommendations:
TanTan Ramen – This one really hits the spot for me. It’s translated as “Dan Dan Noodles,” LOL? The meat sauce has a unique flavor—I dare say you won’t find another place with the same taste. It’s incredibly fragrant and just slightly spicy.
Shoyu Old School – You really can’t go wrong with this at any ramen shop, but the flavor here is especially, especially classic. It’s that iconic soy sauce taste that boosts your appetite—you’ll easily finish a whole big bowl!
That search led me to Dashiwa Ramen.
The answer was obvious the moment I read the menu. Tonkotsu red ramen. A pork bone broth cooked long enough to surrender everything it had. Cloudy, creamy, and dense with flavor, this is not a broth you rush. Chili is folded in with restraint, bringing heat that wakes the palate without overpowering it. Each spoonful carried weight and intention, the kind of umami that fast food tries to imitate and never quite understands.
The chashu matters here. Grilled before it ever touches the bowl, the pork picks up a gentle smokiness and caramelized edge that plays against the richness of the broth. Tender inside, lightly crisped outside, the pork flavor pushes through subtly, confident enough not to shout.
The nori floats quietly at first, then softens and dissolves just enough to leave behind a faint ocean note. That subtle brininess deepens the broth, rounding out the pork with something darker and more complex. It is not garnish. It is structure.
Then there is the soy-marinated egg. Perfectly cooked. Whites just set, yolk creamy and silky, rich with flavor. When the yolk breaks, it melts into the broth, adding body and richness without tipping the bowl into excess. A small detail that tells you everything about the kitchen.
Before the ramen arrived, I started with the fried squid legs. Light batter, clean fry. The crunch gives way to a delicate chew, tender and unmistakably squid. A hint of lemon brightens the whole thing, pulling the natural sweetness forward instead of masking it. Simple, precise, and exactly what it should be.
I drank hibiscus tea alongside it all. Cold, tart, floral. A smart counterpoint that cut through the richness and heat, keeping the meal balanced and grounded.
This was not just lunch. It was a reset. A reminder that comfort food can still have depth, that warmth can come from patience and craft, and that a well-made bowl of ramen can say more than any meal rushed through a drive-thru window ever could. Rain or not, this was exactly where I needed to be.
Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen
Perfect for chilly mornings—rich, flavorful pork broth with a touch of spice. The noodles have a nice chew, the chashu is fragrant, and the soft-boiled egg is spot on.
Mazesoba Chashu Noodles
Loaded with toppings and a runny egg in the center. Mixing it all together coats the thick noodles in a slightly sweet sauce—super satisfying in every bite.
$4 Potato Curry Rice
Got this as a small add-on, but the portion was bigger than expected. Classic Japanese-style veggie curry—perfect if you’re like me and want to try a bit of everything.
Inari Sushi Sampler
Comes with four flavors: crab stick, tamago, chashu, and roasted beef. The sweet tofu skin pairs really well—I especially loved the tamago and beef ones!
I had the Kimchi Beef Udon, which was listed as a winter seasonal item, but I ordered it in early fall — and honestly, it was absolutely fantastic. The flavor was deep, rich, and perfectly balanced.
We also tried the karaage, and it was top-notch — crispy outside, juicy inside, just the way it should be.
It’s definitely one of those places worth going out of your way for when you’re in the Arcadia area. Highly recommended.
Dry noodle Mazesoba is the signature

Fried chicken is a must!
Add $3 for the ramen comb choice of fried tofu and ground pork rice
Lunch special is available Monday to Friday
The restaurant has such a cozy and inviting vibe! The wooden-style décor feels warm and relaxing, and everything is spotless. Service was absolutely fantastic, and parking is super easy — that alone deserves extra points! I’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend!
Special shoutout to our amazing server, Fina! She was incredibly kind and patient, explained every dish in detail, kept our water refilled without us even asking, and checked in on us at just the right times. She’s so sweet and welcoming — truly made the dining experience even better!
Now let’s talk food — everything was delicious!
✅ Tan Tan Ramen
The winner of the night! The broth was rich and flavorful, and the noodles were perfectly chewy. Honestly, I couldn’t stop eating it!
✅ Tonkotsu Black Ramen
This black garlic tonkotsu ramen was amazing! The broth was rich with a subtle garlic aroma and had great depth of flavor. We tried the spicy version too, and the heat level was just right — flavorful without overpowering. The broth isn’t too salty, but it is a bit oily, which is normal for this style.
✅ Chicken Cutlet Curry
Loved this dish! The chicken was crispy on the outside, juicy inside — and came with plenty of curry. They even included a small side of tonkatsu sauce, which gave us two flavor profiles in one dish. The curry was thick and comforting, a perfect pairing.
✅ Pork Curry with Udon
This one was another winner! The combination of savory curry and chewy udon was amazing. I took it to go, so didn’t get the picture. The curry was flavorful with lots of depth, and the udon had that perfect bite. Every mouthful was pure comfort!
If you’re in the area and craving ramen or Japanese comfort food, this place is a must-visit!
