To the Owner of Oak Plaza Restaurant,
I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding an incident that occurred during the recent parade. My family and I were seated nearby when members of your party were continuously smoking cigarettes in close proximity to us. As a result, my family began coughing and experiencing difficulty breathing. Despite this, no effort was made to address the situation or show concern for those around you.
Eventually, we felt uncomfortable enough that we decided to relocate. Before leaving, I politely addressed your daughter and said, “Your cigarettes are affecting us.” Your response to this was unexpected and distressing. You immediately became confrontational, stated that you owned the property, and instructed us to leave. The manner in which this was handled was both alarming and unnecessary, especially given that the situation could have been resolved calmly and respectfully.
A business owner’s conduct in public reflects directly on their establishment. Unfortunately, the lack of compassion and professionalism displayed during this interaction was deeply discouraging. What could have remained a minor issue was escalated into something far more serious due to the aggressive response. Your attitude was very similar to the 27 sanitation grade from a few years ago.
Despite having been in business for over ten years, the restaurant appears to rely almost entirely on local traffic, with little broader community or visitor support.
I sincerely hope that in the future, situations like this are approached with greater consideration and professionalism.

The Oak Plaza Restaurant in Blackshear holds a special place in my family’s history. My grandmother started this restaurant back in 1957 and ran it for 30 years. It’s been a part of our town for generations.
If you’re ever passing through Blackshear, I highly recommend stopping in. Great food, great people, and a true small-town classic.

Certainly the best Mom &Pop restaurant around. The food is awesome the service is great and the owners treat you like family. A good down home country atmosphere. You’ll find daily the best fried chicken in town! On Fridays don’t miss the seafood and low country boil they put out that is all you can eat. Monday – Friday you’ll find me there for lunch and Sundays after church. See ya’ll there!!

Have been frequenting Oak Plaza long enough that fellow diners, staff, & management feels like family & OP feels like home!!! From the moment you walk in you are made to feel welcome, & the tantalizing aroma of southern deliciousness permeates the air, further titillating your tastebuds. Biting into Susie’s delectable crispy & oh so flavorful southern fried chicken or her golden crunchy fried battered bacon is a culinary delight you won’t soon forget!!!! Country veggies cooked to perfection, fresh salad bar items daily, & some of the best ole school tried & true desserts round out a delicious meal & good old sweet tea/unsweetened tea/sodas/water to wash it all down. Mmmmm, it’s yummy to my tummy!!!!!
