A luxurious experience! An exhaustive list of teas to choose from for their Southern tea service. The savories were spectacular. The orange cranberry scone was delectable. I highly recommend the Buckingham Palace Garden tea blend.

Service was great and staff super friendly! The tea was really good…since we are from Oregon we are used to our water so the tea was a little off for us because of the water. But I recommend this after the tour. Variety of selections.

First, no signs when entering the property. Dirt roads crisscross the main driveway, look for the cars off to the left and that is the parking area.
Food was atrocious. The Creole was watery, and bland. Shrimp were overcooked and fishy. The beet salad was okay, but consisted of beets and blue cheese (not much culinary talent there). The cheese biscuits were yummy. My wife had the low country sampler. The pork was kinda sweet, and really kinda bland. Collards were tender but pretty flavorless. The Mac and Cheese was unrecognizable and mostly inedible. It looked like it was made in a muffin tin, noodles were mush, and the whole thing resembled an orange hockey puck. Sweet potatoes casserole and rice had good flavor but the rice was overcooked
In short, high point of the meal was the Okra pickle garnish. I would advise eating lunch somewhere else. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, but I can’t bring myself to give more stars for food that lacked any resemblance of good cooking.

We made a reservation for my mother’s birthday for 10 people and a baby. We had an amazing time and enjoyed walking down to the water after. A had the ” southern tea ” with savories, scones, sweets and two pots of delicious teas. Our favorites were the bourbon vanilla and the Indian spiced chai. We plan to take the girls in our family in the future for a tea party here since we enjoyed it so much! The special of the day was the tomatoe pie and it was everyone’s favorite!

The most awful experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. The hostess was appointed as our waitress which, if we had known how rude she was going to be, I would have walked out right there and then. We were sat at a table squished in the corner of the room, making it difficult for half of our party to even reach their seats. I ordered coffee to start and waited over 20 minutes and asked 4 separate times just to get it. This was a small bachelorette party, and the bride-to-be ordered a water to start, the hostess brought her a lemonade and when the bride said that she had ordered a water, the hostess gave her a dirty look. When we were ordering our drinks, instead of her taking our orders separately, she got exasperated and demanded that everyone who was ordering water raise their hands, and when the table decided to have lemonade and tea as well, she acted even more annoyed that she had to write more than one drink order down. When we finally got our tea, we had to wait another 10 minutes for our cream, sugar, and honey. These, however, were only provided to half of the table. The hostess not only got our drink orders wrong, but our food orders as well. She brought us something we did not order, and then kept trying to bring it back to us, asking who’s it was as if we didn’t remember what we ordered. The hostess was rude, snide, and passive aggressive towards the entire party. Would not recommend.

I made a reservation here for a bachelorette party for my friend. We reserved a table for 10 3-4 weeks in advance to ensure that the tea house would be prepared for such a large party. When we got there, the table was two chairs short, luckily two of our party members had cancelled before hand, but if they had showed up, they would’ve had no place to sit, or would’ve had to sit on white fold out chairs that would not have fit on the table. When I stated to the hostess, who for some reason was our server, that we were here to have a a tea party for the bride-to-be, she stated that we technically were not having a tea party since we did not order the whole tea service, (some of our party members do not like tea so we decided to order separately). The hostess then pointed out that our table would’ve looked prettier if we had ordered a full tea service. The hostess was very rude to us from the moment we stepped in. When the bride ordered a water, the hostess brought her a lemonade and then got annoyed when the bride asked if she could have her water. I ordered a BLT with no mayonnaise as well as the Light Southern Tea service. The hostess came back with a BLT and I asked if it had no mayonnaise on it. She then glared at me and said, “well it has mayonnaise.” I then stated that I could not eat mayo and the hostess rolled her eyes and took the sandwich back. She then brought a chicken salad sandwich to the table which was not ordered. She again got annoyed when we stated that none of us ordered the sandwich and tried to bring it back to us a couple more times. She then offered me the sandwich instead of the BLT and I stated again that I could not have mayo. The hostess then angrily told me that they were out of bacon, and if I was fine with that. I said that I didn’t want the BLT anymore then and she rolled her eyes at me. My daughter who is autistic was taking a bit more time to look at the menu, the hostess then raised her voice at her and said, “hello? Are you there?” And I had to tell her that my daughter needed some more time before she backed off. The bride was becoming increasingly distressed by this atrocious behavior and we kept trying to make the most of it. The hostess then gave us the bill and I noticed that she had charged us for not only the BLT, but the chicken sandwich that we had never ordered. When I went up to pay for our portion, (the hostess did not split the bill for us) the hostess told the woman behind us that we were going to take too long, so she would help her first. I left the tip portion blank since another member of our party was covering the tip for the table. When I handed my portion to the hostess, she told me that I did not tip her the 20% and handed me back the receipt. I told her that I did not forget and she glared at me. She then proceeded to talk rudely about me to my other party members while I was heading to the car. It was a truly awful experience and if I could give 0 stars then I would. Do not recommend.

Okay. Hopsewee Plantation with this tea room was fantastic. I had never had a scone this good. I had herbal mint chocolate tea and it was amazing. I bought the cookbook so that I could have the recipe for the food we ate. That is saying a lot because I am a finicky eater and not a foodie. I suggest also the Gullah explanation or tour and then we did the Sweetwater basket weaving class. Which was so much fun and part of the culture in South Carolina. Loved it!

This place was AMAZING! We got a full tea complete with tiny sandwiches and scones and desserts. Food was excellent and value was great for what we got. My friends loved their soup! They also have a little giftshop so we were able to buy tea to take home which was also very reasonably priced.

The hostess was very rude to me and my party. I have autism and I was taking some time to look over the sides. I am very picky with the textures of food that I eat so when I was asked what side I wanted, I had already had mine planned out, but I did not realize that I got two sides. Because of this, I took a moment. The hostess then raised her voice at me and asked me if I was there. I then froze and was not able to speak. The hostess tried to say something again and my mother had to stop her. It was a bad experience and I do not plan on going back.
